Dance Fit Divas Spotlight
Every month, we shine a "Spotlight" on one of our very own. This month we are proud to shine a bright light on.......
Wendy Harless
My name is Wendy Harless. I love teaching, helping others, and working with people of all ages. The story of my life has had themes of faith, strength, and perseverance.
About ten years ago I became very ill. After doctor appointments for weeks, and having stroke-like symptoms that were missed, I suffered a large vascular rupture and three cardiac arrests. After a very long operation and seventeen blood transfusions later, it was unknown if I would wake up. But after over twenty-four hours, I did wake up... fighting.
I experienced every possible complication during my lengthy hospital stay. I was discharged home for a long recovery with a small child to care for and no home health orders. Somehow, we managed. After about four months, I began doing water aerobics because "things don't hurt in the pool". After a year, I was permitted to resume cardio activities.
I returned to school during this time to become a nurse because I knew how a patient feels and the worries that the family experiences. Additionally, I obtained my fitness certification to further assist people in their recovery process. Little did I know the roller coaster ride was just beginning...including caring for a terminally ill parent during this time.
The past decade has been a very bumpy ride, but I am thankful to be able to enjoy fellowship with the Divas through exercise and prayer.
I began dancing at three years old, and it brings me joy! I live in Kernersville with my husband Steve, my son Spenser, and our kitty Sabrina.
See you on the dance floor,
Wendy
