The Marion Bermuda Race is thrilled to announce that we have more than 50 boats registered for the 2015 Race! These registrants include the 118-foot Bermuda Sloop, Spirit of Bermuda, 2013 overall winner Roust, the all-female crews of Etoile and Spirit, and many more fantastic boats and crews too numerous to list. With just 30 DAYS to go until the start, we can't wait to see what this edition will bring.

Marion Bermuda Reception and Dinner

Join us on Wednesday, June 17th, for an enjoyable evening of camaraderie honoring visiting Bermudians and yachtsmen at the Beverly Yacht Club. Festivities begin at 1830 with a cocktail reception and open bar followed by welcoming speeches and a buffet-style dinner. 

Gosling's Rum Marion Bermuda Crew Supper

After the Skipper's meeting on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 1800, Beverly Yacht Club will host a crew grill, picnic-style supper sponsored by Gosling's Rum for all crew, families and friends - a casual, fun time. Cash Bar.

Spirit of Bermuda and Tabor Boy in New Bedford


In an effort to continue to expand the race's support of youth sailing and education, the Marion Bermuda Race has arranged for two historic ships, the Spirit Of Bermuda and Tabor Boy, to berth in New Bedford, Mass. from June 15th to 16th, 2015. Local schools, yacht club junior programs, and community boating programs are invited to take part in this exciting educational opportunity. Families and children of all ages are welcome to visit the ships when they are in port.

Changes to The Notice of Race

Since last fall, there have been four incidents of amendments to the Notice of Race. These amendments are important for all skippers and crew, so please take the time to review them, below or on the website


 

May 5, 2015

  • D3 has been substantially rewritten.
  • D4 bullet 1 now says a GPS cannot be used to determine boat speed.
  • D7 now says a time penalty may be assessed if the yacht is significantly greater than 50 miles from Bermuda when it turns on its GPS or other electronic positioning device.
  • D10 has a minor rewording.

March 26, 2015

  • A.5.b Except for double handed yachts a minimum crew of 3 is allowed.
  • A.7.c The percentage of youths required in a Youth Yacht is reduced to 66%.
  • A.8 L. Bryon Kingery, Jr. Memorial Trophy changed to allow three (3) or four (4) people.
  • D.5 An explicit statement has been added saying position data derived from AIS may not be used to locate a yacht's position.

December 18, 2014

  • Section 7 of the NOR has been revised to clarify the entry process.
  • Regulation 3.12 in the NOR Attachment E Safety Requirements which requires a personal man overboard locator beacon has been deleted.

September 19, 2014 

  • Name of the "Youth Trophy" added as Offshore Youth Challenge Trophy.
