Greetings!

The summer seems to have flown by, as it always does. We can't believe that in less than ten months we'll be sailing to Bermuda once again!

We've been hard at work here at Marion Bermuda HQ, but we've been hard at play, too. Between our new mentorship program, our youth and celestial program development, and even raising awareness and donations to combat ALS, it has been a busy few months.

We'd love to hear what you've been up to this summer! Marion Bermuda Race veteran boat, KIVA, sailed to the 'Onion Patch' once again, as a part of the Newport Bermuda Race. Ron Wisner has been leading Celesital Seminars, with the final summer seminar approaching on September 28th (rsvp: hotspurii@yahoo.com). The Beverly Yacht Club is hosting J/24 Nationals in Marion, MA this weekend. What about you? Send us an email at editor@marionbermuda.com or find us on Facebook to share!

As you make your plans for next summer, consider sailing to beautiful Bermuda with us!

Save the Date:  June 19, 2015!

Mentorship Program Is Ready To Roll

The Marion Bermuda Race is often lauded as a great way to get you and your crew out for your first long-distance offshore race. It's safe, its low-key but competitive, and there is support everywhere you turn. Race prep is often the most exhausting part of these races- maybe even tougher than that 12 am-4 am watch shift!

In order to aid new, and even returning, skippers and crew with the transition from coastal sailing to offshore racing, the Marion Bermuda Race has developed a mentorship program. Our program pairs each skipper with a race veteran mentor to help them navigate the challenges and confusion that can often surround race preparations. We never want a lack of support to be the reason why you miss out on this fantastic journey to Bermuda!

We have mentors available from Maine to Maryland, and more coming on board every day. If you're interested in becoming a mentor or a mentee, please email Paul Goldberg: levanter@aol.com

Newport Boat Show: September 11th-14th

Come to the City by the Sea the second weekend of September to enjoy the Newport International Boat Show!

The Marion Bermuda Race will be there to provide information to interested sailors and potential partners.

We hope to see you at the show- stop by our booth and say hello!
MBR vs ALS
Special thanks to our marketing consultants, Popcorn & Ice Cream, for nominating us to take on the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise funds to research a cure for ALS.

For those of you that aren't familiar, the challenge is a 'douse or donate,' (though we chose to do both, as well as supporting a handful of other very important causes). Those who douse then nominate others to complete the challenge, creating a butterfly effect of donations and ice water dunkings!

So far, millions of dollars have been raised through the campaign for ALS research, and awareness of the disease has skyrocketed. We nominated our friends at Sailing World and Cruising World Magazines, Hinckley yachts, The Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club, and the US Naval Academy Offshore Sailing Team to complete the challenge to strike out ALS!
