Dec 2014

Greetings!

We trust you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and we wish the very best to you and your family during the remainder of the 2014 Holiday Season.

We begin this issue by welcoming David Hadden and Susan Cuervo as new agents with the Richman, O'Hare & Associates team. Susan was the owner of the Cuervo Group, a CruiseOne franchise and David was an agent with Susan's group. For personal reasons, Susan decided to merge her franchise with ours and we are delighted to have them both as part of our team.

We are always looking for new ideas and ways to make Cruise Newz more entertaining and informative. If you have ideas for articles, destinations, or anything you feel would be interesting, email them to arichman@cruiseone.com. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy this edition.

Best regards and Happy Holidays to you and yours,

Al & Helen

on behalf of the entire team at Richman, O'Hare & Associates

 Secret Word of the Month

Each month, only for subscribers of CNAV, we have a "Secret Word" hidden somewhere in one of the articles and it is worth a $25 on-board credit to all who find it.

To receive this special bonus, you just have to mention the current "Secret Word" when making a new reservation with your Richman, O'Hare & Associate agent.

Our Monthly Customer Appreciation Program

All Clients who make a new reservation during the month are automatically entered into that month's drawing with the winner receiving $25 on-board credit for the qualifying reservation.

CONGRATULATIONS
Dorothy Marian, Boca Raton, Florida
the lucky winner of the November drawing.

Someone asked "how do we choose the winner?" All names of those booked during the month go on an Excel spread sheet in 3 columns ( titled A, B, C) and we have someone simply pick a letter and a number and the name in that cell (box) wins. Thanks is advance if we happen to ask you to do this one month.

The winner this month was selected by
Teresa (a nurse at Dr. Berlin's office) when making a new appointment for Helen.

Richman, O'Hare & Associates Client Loyalty Rewards Program

We want to do more than just tell you how much we appreciate your loyalty. We want to show you!  With every reservation you make with a Richman. O'Hare & Associate Agent, you will receive Reward Points for that reservation.

Here are the basics of the Richman, O'Hare & Associates program.

Each passenger over the age of 21 receives one (1) point per night sailed.

Once you have accumulated 50 points, you choose whether you wish to receive either a $50 on board credit or a $75 credit towards our travel protection for your next trip.

No paperwork, no tracking anything, and no time limit to reach your next reward. Every cruise you book with us counts! We keep track and when you reach 50 points, we will ask you what you want for your reward. Points earned on the trip completed and total points to date will be included in the Welcome Home Questionnaire you will receive when returning from your trip.

 Client Recommendations & More!
We are always pleased to hear from our clients by email or phone and we want to thank you in advance for taking a few minutes to complete the short Welcome Home Questionnaire  we send you after you return from a trip. We created this section (per our clients' request in a recent survey) as a way for our clients to share their experiences with others. We will only mention your name with permission.

Recently several people - James Howell and Daniel and Jackie Holbrook visited Key West while on the Grandeur of the Seas and made the comment that they wished the ship spent more time there as it was such an interesting place and listed it as a favorite port during their trip.

As an aside, in Key West you will find Mile Marker 0 of US Route 1, which began at the Canadian Border in Fort Kent Maine 2,369 miles to the north.

US Route 1 and it's history is very interesting
so we have included  this link for those who would like to learn more.
Key West is a fun place to visit (even if not on a cruise) with many things to see and do including the Ernest Hemingway Museum (and there are still some six toed cats around), Audubon House, famous Duval Street for people watching at both Sloppy Joes and Capt. Tony's (the original location of Sloppy Joes) Bars.

Shopping Recommendation: There is a store at Mallory Square (where cruise ships dock) that we can personally recommend called the Mad Hatter. They are one of the few places we have found that sell a visor with a wider brim called a No Headache hat. Even if you do not buy anything, taking a few minutes to stop in and see the variety of fun hats they have is worthwhile. We guarantee it will be worth your time and is a fun store to browse in.

The Secret Word for December is Headache

 ***
Robert and Wendi Stanley of TX sailed recently on the Navigator of the Seas had this to say about Grand Cayman Island.  "It was extremely clean, loved the beach, and none of the locals were pestering you about buying something."
***
Christopher and Victoria Sullivan also of TX, recently visited the Panama Canal on the Holland America Zuiderdam. Curacao was one of their favorite ports as they said they found it to be a clean island, lots of color, long port visit so they were able to spend the day touring the island.

Trivia Tidbit: There is a "swing bridge" in Curacao to the main part of town that used to have a charge of one penny years back for people to use the bridge to get across the river. As the story goes, only the rich had to pay the fee, not the poor. So how did they determine this? By who was wearing shoes! If you wore shoes you were considered rich and if not you were poor. The rich wanted to save the penny so left their shoes home and the poor didn't want others to know so borrowed a pair when they went into town
.

HumorAnd a little humor to end with.........

We normally give tips about your vacation but with the Holidays upon us, we thought this might also be a good one for all our cruise family friends.

A Joy Filled month to You And Yours
