All Vancouver Island alumni, alumni parents and alumni faculty are invited to our Victoria Alumni event on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at the University Club of Victoria. Please join us for complimentary appetizers and drinks from 5 - 7pm. Spouses or guests are welcome.

We will be also honouring Roger Hatch, who will be retiring at the end of this school year after being a coach, teacher, mentor and friend to Collingwood students, parents and faculty since 1985. Don't miss this opportunity to catch up with your fellow alumni and say goodbye to Roger!

Sean Greenwood '05 to Compete in the Winter Olympics

Class of 2005 alum Sean Greenwood will be representing Ireland in skeleton at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

For someone who only took up the sport in 2008 while still in university and has been largely self-financing, Sean's rise in the world rankings has been remarkable, but for those who knew him at Collingwood, it's not  entirely unexpected. "While at Collingwood, Sean was a terrific and committed athlete which made him a key member of the senior rugby team for three years," Director of Athletics David Speirs said. "It's not surprising that he could turn that kind of dedication to another sport like skeleton."

Sean holds dual Canadian and Irish citizenship and his fascinating story landed him on the front cover of the Province newspaper (read the full article here) as well as in a recent BBC article

You can hear Sean describe the thrill in own words and see him in action on this video by his fellow Grad '05 alum, David Goldberg. (Video courtesy of David Goldberg, Simple Matters Films)

Congratulations on making it to the Olympics, Sean - we wish you all the best and some of the legendary luck of the Irish!

Or just check in with us and let us know what you're up to so we can share it with your fellow alumni. Please also send a high resolution colour picture that we can include with the notes.

Sometimes we receive alumni news from parents or friends of an alum and we really welcome those submissions as well.

Winter Party 2013

This Lamplighter Pub was the venue for the 2013 Winter Party and, as you can see, guests enjoyed themselves - particularly in the photobooth! Over 75 alumni from Grad 1989 to 2013 attended the event.

During the evening, Shannon O'Neill '99, outgoing chair of the Alumni Association, was presented with the inaugural Alumni Association Honours Award in recognition of her outstanding service to the Alumni Association and Collingwood School.

The event also offered guests an opportunity to congratulate Shannon on her recent marriage to new husband Travis!
