CAPITAL CAMPAIGNS AND ANNUAL CAMPAIGNS

Now is the time of year when the school asks our families to support the Tartan Fund, Collingwood's annual campaign. Hopefully you have already received an appeal from the school. As our capital campaign continues we don't want to lose sight of how important the Tartan Fund is to ensuring the continued quality and growth of our programs.

We want to take this opportunity to clarify the important differences between our annual campaign and our capital campaign and why your support of both is extremely important.

A capital campaign, like Building Excellence: The Campaign for Collingwood, raises funds for large capital projects. These projects have a significant impact on the future of the School. In our case, we are bringing the whole school into the 21st century with state-of-the-art facilities which will include new gymnasiums, classrooms, theatre, a dance studio, and music suites.Just as our founding families shaped and built our school and two campuses since 1984, today's Collingwood parents have a unique opportunity to be a part of shaping the school's legacy.Gifts to a capital campaign are generally larger and, in the case of our campaign, can be pledged over a period of three years.

Annual campaigns are part of the fabric of any independent school and, as the name implies, are targeted each year to specific projects that are not covered by tuition fees. The focus is on high participation levels - the idea that if everyone could give a modest gift, we can pool those resources together for projects. This year's focus is on all four strands.  Our goals are to increase parent participation to at least 75% and to raise $250,000.

We hope that you recognize the importance of supporting both our capital campaign as well as our annual campaign. Each has a different and tremendous impact on the lives of our students. In addition, both Annual and Capital Campaign gifts are 100% tax deductible.

A MESSAGE FROM THE YASSIN FAMILY

A young Wentworth family committed to Collingwood's future

Our 4 years at Collingwood have been an amazing experience. We now have 2 of our 3 boys at Wentworth and every day they are so excited to go to school and then enthusiastic to share their day at pick up. It has been so positive, not only for the kids, but us too. The boys and ourselves have all made new friends. I can only describe Collingwood as one big happy family, which can only grow over the 12+ years you are involved with the school.

As the parents before us have done with the Wentworth campus, we feel it is very important to return the favor by helping to rebuild Morven. We are thrilled to be a part of the campaign which will really transform Collingwood. From the minute you walk into Wentworth you see parents and students alike in an amazing facility, truly wanting to be at the school. The teachers are exceptional and from my experience really care about the kids. They are very positive and engage the individuality of the boys. Everything from the academic program, arts, community support and sports are very well thought out to enhance the Collingwood experience. The school is very proactive in assessing the needs for the future. We couldn't be happier!
