July 4th, Independence Day, a time to celebrate our Nation's freedom with parades, barbecues and outdoor activities. Many professional firework exhibits are scheduled for your enjoyment in the Denver Metro area. Rocky Mountain Fire recommends you leave the show to the professionals. If you decide to purchase fireworks for home use, following are a few safety rules.
- Only buy legal fireworks; if it flies or explodes it is illegal in Colorado and you can be issued a ticket. Superior 's definition of fireworks is any substance producing and visual or auditory sensation by combustion. Just because you can purchase it in Colorado does not mean it is legal in every municipality.
- Adults should always supervise.
- Always have a hose and bucket of water standing by.
- Do not relight fireworks that did not function fully, wait 20 minutes and put them in the bucket of water.
- Never point fireworks at another person.
- Only light one firework at a time.
- NEVER light fireworks near combustibles such as dry grass and decks.
- Always soak used fireworks in a bucket of water after they have cooled for 20 minutes and then dispose of properly.
- Keep pets inside and away from the activities, fireworks can hurt their ears and frighten them. Nationally there is 30% increase in lost pets between July 4 and July 6 as reported by animal control officers.
The weeks leading up to July 4th and the remainder of the summer Rocky Mountain Fire responds to many calls for grass fires started by fireworks. Please help us keep your open spaces green for the summer and ensure no fireworks are shot into the greenbelts and open spaces. Have a Happy and Safe 4th of July we look forward to seeing you at the parade and pancake feed at Community Park. Smokey Bear is planning a brief visit to remind everyone to prevent wildfires.

2016 DRINKING WATER QUALITY Consumer Confidence Report
|
In the last few weeks, every residence in the Town of Superior should have received a Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) from the Town's Public Works Department. The Consumer Confidence Reports Rule, 40 CFR 141 Subpart O, is the centerpiece of the right-to-know provisions in the 1996 Amendments to the Safe Drinking Water Act. Every public water system must prepare and distribute an annual CCR, which is a summary of drinking water quality provided to customers during the previous year. A CCR typically contains information such as the state's source water assessment, a table reporting levels of detected contaminants with their maximum contaminant levels mandated by the Colorado Department of Health and Environment, required informational and warning language, as well as details of any violations of the drinking water regulations.
CLICK HERE to view additional information about the report.

Slow The Flow and New Rebates Added
| An inefficient sprinkler not only wastes water, but also wastes your money! Get your system's efficiency checked with a FREE irrigation inspection by the Center for ReSource Conservation and the Town of Superior.
Inspections last about 90 minutes, but could help you save thousands of gallons of water each year. It's easy to sign up and get long-lasting and money-saving results! Simply call 303-999-3824 or sign-up at conservationcenter.org/sprinkler to schedule.
Also, the Town of Superior is now offering homeowners two added rebates to the Water Efficiency Rebate Program (in addition to the four existing rebates for Shower Heads, Dishwashers, Toilets and Clothes Washers). These additions are for WaterSense Certified Smart Sprinkler Control Systems and Rotary/High Efficiency Sprinkler Nozzles.
