Keep It Clean Partnership VOLUNTEER DAY
Saturday, June 15
8:30-11:30 am
Meet at Superior Town Hall

| |
This volunteer opportunity is a great way to get outdoors and enjoy a day in your community. The Town of Superior together with the Keep It Clean Partnership (KICP) is hosting a volunteer clean-up day on June 15! Several volunteer opportunities will be available such as: storm drain marking, creek clean-ups, and education outreach. Organize your friends and neighbors and help keep Superior looking great!
Stream Clean-up Team - Clean up a section of Rock Creek or Coal Creek. By committing to just a few volunteer hours you will make a visible and lasting impact on our local waterways.
Storm Drain Marking - Storm drain marking is a fun way to help reduce polluted runoff in our community. By attaching a storm drain marker that reads, "Dispose no waste, drains to creek" you help create public awareness and enhance water quality.
Education Outreach - Help spread the word about storm water pollution prevention by distributing informational door hangers. Get your exercise as you walk the neighborhood and complete this easy volunteer task.
KICP is a group of Boulder County communities, including Superior, dedicated to protecting water quality and reducing stormwater pollution. KICP offers opportunities for residents to engage in their environment and improve their communities. Thanks to your volunteer efforts, you will be helping to improve the health of local waterways for humans and wildlife!
Make plans now to meet at Town Hall on Saturday, June 15 at 8:30 am to get involved in a great day of volunteer activities.

Tennis Court Resurface Project
| |
The Town of Superior Board of Trustees recently approved an agreement with Coatings, Inc., to resurface the four tennis courts located near the North Pool.
This project is scheduled to begin the first week of July and be finished within approximately three weeks. Due to the magnitude and scope of work that will be completed, the tennis courts will be closed to the public. At times during this project, homes adjacent to the courts may notice noise from the equipment. Work will begin each day no earlier than 7:00 a.m. and conclude by 7:00 p.m. Should the contractor need to conduct operations during the weekends, work will begin no earlier than 8:00 a.m.
Town staff is working to secure tennis courts around the community for ongoing tennis programming that would typically take place at the North Pool courts. Registered participants will be notified in advance of the location change. Signage will also be placed outside the North Pool courts.
The Town appreciates your patience in advance while performing this project. Please contact Patrick Hammer (EMAIL HERE) with any questions.

DROUGHT and WATERING UPDATE
|
The Reuse Water Irrigation system for commercial customers is on and running with no problems other than a few low pressure incidents that have been resolved. Please contact us (see below) should you have any questions about the service or to report inadequate pressure or suspected leaks.
Currently, the Town restricts watering between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. but does not have other mandatory watering restrictions in place. The Town continues to encourage each of us to be responsible for making an effort to implement the voluntary watering guidelines as posted on our website.
Within the past month, the U.S. Drought monitoring system has upgraded the drought forecast for our area from moderate (D1) to Abnormally Dry (D0) as shown in the updated map below.
If you have any questions you can contact Alex Ariniello or Jim Widner at the Town of Superior Public Works and Utilities Department.

CODE ENFORCEMENT CORNER

|
Each month, the Town includes information about issues and trends in the area of code enforcement. During the month of May, 44 code violations were identified, primarily right-of-way obstructions such as basketball hoops, RV's and trailers. Fourty-two of these were promptly corrected, resulting in a 95% compliance rate.
This month, we want to remind residents of the regulation regarding the parking of detached trailers and recreational vehicles within the Town.
Sec. 8-1-60 Parking of detached trailers and recreational vehicles.
c) Recreational vehicles. It is unlawful to continuously park any recreational vehicle for more than five (5) days on any public street, alley or right-of-way. The same standard applies to all detached trailers parked or stored on any public street, alley or right-of-way.
Upon witness of graffiti related activity within the Town, please contact the Boulder County Sheriffs Department at 303-441-4444. To report a graffiti sighting/location please contact The Town of Superior at 303-499-3675.
Questions regarding the Town's code enforcement program can be directed to our Code Enforcement Officer, Reggie Nettles, at
303-499-3675 ext. 165.

AT THE FIREHOUSE

|
 |
"Shelter in Place." Your phone is ringing and when you answer a computer tells you to shelter in place due to an active shooter in the area. Now What? Are you Prepared?
Following the Boston Marathon bombing, the ensuing manhunt led to thousands of people being ordered to shelter in place, most not understanding what this meant. In this case it meant closing and locking all windows and doors and listening to radio or television to find out when it would be clear to go back outside. For others in the US it has meant closing and locking windows and doors and turning off HVAC systems and sealing vents due to chemical releases in the area. Locally, sheltering in place has occurred at Boulder Valley Schools due to a threat. For some schools this has meant children could only go outside with their parents to leave the school grounds, and on other occasions it has meant no one can enter or leave the school until police have cleared the area. The children have practiced these drills at school but have you practiced them at home? Every threat to your well-being has its own variables and you need to respond appropriately if the time comes, including sheltering in place.
The messaging systems utilized through 911 Call Back, radio, and television provide valuable information of what is required of you to stay safe. Listen carefully to the message and follow the instructions, then keep watching and listening for updates. Specific information about sheltering in place can be found at www.emergency.cdc.gov/ and also at www.nationalterroralert.com/shelterinplace . Not only will these sites give you instructions on how to shelter in place they also have links to emergency preparedness kits all citizens should have.

ASK SUPERIOR 24/7

|
 |
It's easier than ever to contact the Town of Superior!
Superior has made it easier for you to contact us with your requests, questions, and concerns. Last year, the Town launched "Ask Superior", a system that allows you to contact us 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week in whatever way is most convenient - online or by contacting Town Hall by phone, fax, mail, or in person. Ask Superior is also available to iPhone and Android smart phone users by downloading a free application.
Ask Superior makes it seem as if there's a staff member on call around the clock to help you. If you prefer to make a request, comment, or question online, just click the Ask Superior logo on our home page www.superiorcolorado.gov; the system features simple pull-down menus and is a breeze to use. If you prefer to call, walk-in, fax, or mail your request during normal business hours our staff will enter it right into the Ask Superior system.
No matter which way you choose to contact us, you don't have to know which employee or department is responsible for a specific service - the system ensures the right person is contacted. And if you prefer to make your request or comment confidentially, you'll always have that option too.
Ask Superior greatly improves the way the Town handles your requests by...
- Creating a unique tracking number for each request to easily track its status at any time.
- Automatically provides the status of your request and notifies you when the request has been completed.
- Allows you to contact the Town whenever it's most convenient for you.
We recognize that you may have questions about Ask Superior, and we believe that once you use the system, you'll see how intuitive and easy it is. In the meantime, call 303-499-3675 if you have any questions about Ask Superior.
