Perch Brackets
Have big chewers? Want to easily add a really long perch across the aviary or cage to provide hours of activity and entertainment? We highly recommend these Natural Inspiration brackets, which can hold hold various lumber sizes (2 x 2, 2 x 4, and 2 x 6). Drill holes in the lumber to hang more foraging activities! Brackets come in powder coated ($30) or stainless (normally $60, 10% off sale for $54). Click here to purchase through our store, helpingparrots.com
GOOD NEWS FOR
WILD AFRICAN GREYS!!

"On October 2 in Johannesburg, South Africa 95 countries voted to end international trade in wild African Greys, a milestone decision for the conservation of the species." Great thanks to the World Parrot Trust for their efforts in making this possible. Click here for the press release. 1,000's of greys are trapped each year, many die in the process. The number of wild African greys has been dropping precipitously in recent years. We hope this CITES decision will help to preserve the species!

Please Consider Adoption!
The Phoenix Landing Foundation is a 501(c)(3) all-volunteer organization. It was established to promote and protect the welfare of parrots through adoption, education and conservation. Almost every bird, from the smallest to the largest, from the most loved to the most neglected, will need a new home someday. Probably a succession of homes. People's lives change, often unexpectedly. One day your bird may need a good new home too.  Here are just a few of our many adoptable birds. Learn more about our process: phoenixlanding.org/adoption
ROXIE
Roxie is a female blue front Amazon, reportedly 37 years old. She was adopted through us in 2009, and is now ready for her next good home. Like most Amazons, Roxie will pick her favorite person or other bird, and that relationship will take precedence over others. This means that other family members need to be ok with that.  Roxie likes to sing with a vibrato, eats her healthy fresh food and pellets readily, and enjoys playing with toys, especially wood slats. She also enjoys showers and some time in an aviary, if possible. She's quite a character and very active, not the typical Amazon perch potato!
POCO
Poco is a 21 year old hahns macaw. She is a big chatterbox, and loves to be in the heart of the conversation.  People often think they want a talking bird. It's certainly an adorable trait and the words spoken are often very situation appropriate. At the same time, be prepared for repetition and lots of chatter, which doesn't help if you work from home.  However, if you are looking for a bird to converse with regularly, Poco will keep you entertained!
KOPIE
This 20 year old male Congo African grey is quite the character. He spends lots of time hanging upside down and playing with things on top of the cage, like seagrass mats or paper toys. We encourage this exercise activity. He is a genteel guy with good manners, saying "Thank you" or "I love you." Kopie is an avid eater of fresh foods and pellets. He enjoys soaking some of his food in his water first, a common activity for wild and captive parrots, so we just recommend changing his water frequently.
