158 Waiting for Our Help
With hundreds of birds in foster, or waiting for our help, we will work with you to make the best match for everyone.  For more information about our foster and adoption program, or to find our application, go to:

The Phoenix Landing Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit all-volunteer organization. It was established to promote and protect the welfare of parrots through adoption, education, and refuge. Almost every bird, from the smallest to the largest, from the most loved to the most neglected, will need a new home someday. Probably several new homes. People's lives change, often unexpectedly. One day your bird may need a good new home too. PLEASE CONSIDER ADOPTION FIRST!

ADOPTABLE BIRDS

Here are a FEW of our many birds looking for their next homes

Here are some of the blue and gold macaws in our foster care system, all looking for their next good home. There are 16 other blue and golds also waiting to enter our adoption program.
By nature, blue and golds are busy, happy, and engaging; they tend to have personalities that are mischievous and fun.
Macaws in general tend to favor one particular person or bird, but have the capacity to enjoy and participate in an active family life.  To thrive, they need to have a varied whole food diet; some nuts like Brazil, almond and walnuts; and access to a healthy pellet.  Please don't feed your macaws peanuts or many seeds.

MERLIN is a wild caught orange wing Amazon. Her person took ill and she was living in neglect for awhile, but as a resilient parrot, Merlin has made a wonderful transformation.  She is a good flier, and gets plenty of that much needed exercise. She is fearful of hands but shows definite interest in being near family activity, which is all that really matters.  She barks, meows, and mumbles quite a bit. She came on a horrid diet but is now eating healthy food with a relish. We wish she could tell us all that she has seen in her life!  She has been in a temporary foster home but really needs to find a new place soon.

ECO-TOUR TO THE BRAZILIAN PANTANAL
Phoenix Landing invites you to explore the many parrots of the Pantanal on our next ecotour to Brazil, September 12-20, 2015.  An exciting yet low impact 9 day/8 night adventure will  take you deep into the savannahs and wetlands of Brazil. You can watch over a dozen different species of parrots in the wild, from the smaller conures to the largest and most graceful hyacinth macaw, often observing them up close.
To learn more about this upcoming trip, go to phoenixlanding.org/Brazil2015. You can also read about prior trips on our recent blog post at phoenixlanding.org/blog. This is a wonderful trip, and includes a tax deductible donation to help wild parrots as well!
AVIAN FLU
Avian influenza, called H5N1, has recently reemerged in the United States.  If you live near migratory birds or poultry farms, please be vigilant.  Our birds enjoy many positive benefits from fresh air and sunshine, but take special caution to prevent contaminated water.  For updated information about the current situation, go to:  www.avma.org
