IN HONOR OF THE LIFE OF LIZ WILSON, CVT (1946-2013)
We will surely miss Liz. We could always count on her for a witty and insightful magazine article or blog post regarding how to live more harmoniously with our parrots. She was a highly valued member of the Phoenix Landing Board of Directors. I considered her a true and dear friend, and sincerely hope she is now enjoying the company of many parrots who preceded her to the next life. Thanks for paving the way for better lives for parrots in our homes, Liz. Your efforts will not be forgotten, and there is no doubt that many parrots have benefited from your help. To read my personal tribute to Liz, and perhaps add your own thoughts, please go to: phoenixlanding.org/blog ~ Ann Brooks, Phoenix Landing Co-Founder

The Phoenix Landing Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit all-volunteer organization. It was established to promote and protect the welfare of parrots through adoption, education, and refuge. Almost every bird, from the smallest to the largest, from the most loved to the most neglected, will need a new home someday. Probably several new homes. People's lives change, often unexpectedly. One day your bird may need a good new home too. Please consider adoption first! |

ADOPTABLE BIRDS
Here are a few of our many birds looking for their new homes
|
TIKI is a 19 year old Timneh African grey. He loves to forage and explore new things. His foster family makes him two skewers of fresh foods, wooden beads and shreddables each day to keep him busy. He loves having to solve puzzles for treats (grapes and an occasional sunflower seed). He's a laid-back bird who is a little cage territorial (since that is his special space to be respected) but he loves to spend as much time as possible just hanging out on his playtop whenever someone is home. He's a great eater of mash, fresh fruits and veggies, sprouts, birdie bread, and has pellets 24/7. Once he's away from his cage, he's super happy to watch TV with you or share dinner with you and your family.
|
LYRA loves attention. So when her family had a baby, she started to cry like a baby and talk like one also. She continues to learn new words and says things like "roll over", "you want a banana", "Lyraaaaaaa", and she makes spaceship sounds. Over all, she has a very quiet disposition and a lot of love to give.
|
PEANUT is a blue headed pionus who is approximately 12 years old. He prefers not to be picked up by hand but will step up on a perch and is responsive to training for treats. Peanut speaks quite clearly with a limited vocabulary and appears to have quite the conversation every night after lights off.
|
RED is a three year old crimson Rosella. He is sweet, tame, active and very social. He loves to step up because that's the most direct route to your shoulder. We recommend teaching him to enjoy places other than a shoulder so you can stay attentive to his body language and prevent problems. He eats fruits and vegetables and is slowly learning to include pellets in his diet as well.

With hundreds of birds in foster, or waiting for our help, we will work with you and your family to make the best match for everyone. For more information about our foster and adoption program, or to find our application, go to phoenixlanding.org/adoption
