TCS Named New York City Marathon Title Partner
New York Road Runners (NYRR) and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) have announced an eight-year partnership, with TCS taking on the role of Title Sponsor of the New York City Marathon. Beginning in 2014, the prestigious race will be called the TCS New York City Marathon and is a part of a year-round premier partnership between TCS and NYRR.

"We are delighted to be the title sponsor of the New York City Marathon from 2014. This partnership presents a great way for us to accelerate our engagement with communities in the New York area and across North America to raise awareness about health and fitness," said Natarajan Chandrasekaran, CEO and Managing Director, TCS. It may surprise you to learn that our North American roots stretch back over one-hundred years to the travels of Jamsetji Tata -- our group's Founder -- across the eastern United States. His mission: to seek out America's brightest business minds and to learn about the nation's premier industries.

Along his journey, Jamsetji Tata visited manufacturing facilities from Atlanta to Chicago and was welcomed by the likes of President Theodore Roosevelt!

During his recent visit to the US and Canada, B Muthuraman, vice chairman of Tata Steel and chairman of Tata International, discussed the importance of integrating social responsibility with business operations and offered his outlook on the steel market in the US in a "Four Questions with Tata in North America" podcast interview.

"...The Tata group, has always maintained that society is not only an integral part of the business but also the prime purpose of the business, and we have a strong belief in that," said Mr. Muthuraman during the interview.
