Tata Employees Participate in a Summer of Giving Back
|
Tata employees in North America spent time giving back to their communities this summer. While individual Tata companies continued to run their community-based programs, there were also some highlights at the Tata group level. Toronto-based Tata companies volunteered with First Book Canada to benefit local reading programs. Volunteers from Tata companies, including TCS, Tata Global Beverages and Tata Interactive Systems, in the Greater Toronto Area donated their time to select and pack over 50,000 brand new books for delivery to children in need in local Canadian schools. Tata has partnered with First Book since 2007 and donated more than 225,000 books to communities across North America.
Similarly, volunteers from Tata Steel in Schaumburg, IL provided a special outing to the children from the SOS Children's Villages of Illinois. Building on Tata's commitment to health and wellness education in North America, Tata Steel employees accompanied these at-risk children to a baseball game and treated them to some outdoor fun. Since 2012, Tata Sons has sponsored the Wellness Garden by Tata at the SOS Children's Villages of Illinois. Located on the south side of Chicago, the garden provides an education in healthy eating will affording access to fresh produce for the Village residents as well as the adjoining community.
