Ratan Tata Awarded 2012 Deming Cup

Ratan N. Tata, chairman of Tata Sons was one of two recipients of the 2012 Deming Cup, awarded by the W. Edwards Deming Center for Quality, Productivity, and Competitiveness at Columbia Business School. Former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and Klaus Kleinfeld, Chairman and CEO, Alcoa introduced Mr. Tata at the award ceremony which took place on October 23 in New York. Jaguar Land Rover Debuted Three New Vehicles at 2012 L.A. International Automobile Show

Jaguar Land Rover launched three exciting new luxury automobiles at the 2012 Los Angeles International Automobile Show, which runs from November 28 to December 9.

"This year's Los Angeles Auto show is one of the most significant U.S. shows in years for Jaguar Land Rover as we launch a true modern day British invasion with the debut of three breakthrough new products," said Andy Goss, President of Jaguar Land Rover North America. "Jaguar Land Rover is making major strides to grow the business with highly targeted new products. The new Jaguar F-TYPE, Jaguar XFR-S and all new Range Rover will all make a major impact, specifically in the United States, which will be the world's largest market for all three vehicles."

At Plastics News' Plastics in Lightweight Vehicles 2012 Conference, Tata Technologies SMEs Peter Davis, Chief Designer - Vehicle Design and Ray Peters, Senior Program Manager discussed the electric MObility (eMO) EV engineering study on a panel entitled "How Electric Vehicles Will Impact Design and Materials." The eMO was displayed in the exhibit hall at the conference, which took place November 6 - 7 in Livonia, Michigan.


Mr. Davis and Mr. Peters also participated in an industry roundtable entitled "The Future of the Lightweight Vehicle" along with Oliver Kuttner, founder and CEO of Edison2. Kuttner is the winner of the 2010 Automotive X Prize, for engineering the Very Light Car; a four-passenger vehicle that achieved 125 MPG and weighs only 1,200 pounds.
