Keeping your heart open to the giving and receiving of love from all living beings sustains our life; however, sometimes it is difficult. Pains from an argument, betrayal from a friend or co-worker, judgment from a family member are all examples of how our heart may want to close as a defense mechanism. If you allow such situations to close your heart, how will you love and serve yourself or others?
Living in a state of awareness can be cultivated in meditation, assisting in recognizing when the heart closes or becomes hardened. Here is a brief meditation that can be used when these experiences arise:
Close your eyes and invoke God, the Angels, and all ascended Masters, the higher consciousness of the Universe or planet, your source as you may call it. Imagine inviting that energy to travel down your crown chakra, which is at the top of your head, filling your body with pure white light. Feel it resting at your heart center, take some cleansing breaths and invite this energy to grow stronger and brighter, then imagine it radiating out. You will also want to connect to Mother Earth deeply rooted and planted to the earth. Allow her strength and stability to travel up the legs filling the body with light energy and allow it to rest at the heart center. Radiate that light back to Mother Earth and assist her in her healing as we have mistreated her. Connecting to mother earth is important as you need to remain grounded. You are a spiritual being having a human experience, and you need to remain connected to spirit but live on this plane.
After making this connection, invite your heart region to radiate light and imagine this light filling first your body then shining out. Invite your source to assist you and then allow yourself to love, to forgive, and to release all that no longer serves you. Encourage faith and trust that your heart will heal.
We need more love in this world. We need more people experiencing and living with an open heart. Think about it, if each of us attempted to heal our hearts there would be a lot less pain experienced in the world.
Living with an open heart,
Nancy
