ISES-NCC Blog We recently launched a new opportunity to ISES members to promote their work as well as help the ISES blog become more robust. Each member can contribute one blog entry per membership year to our blog. It can be a blog that is written specifically for this site, or it can be a copy of an entry on your own blog. You can send the copy and photos to Jamie Snively and we will post it on the site for you. This is an exciting opportunity that we hope drives traffic to your website, as well as the ISES website!

Quote of the Month
"I try to incorporate life's lessons from everyone around me and pay it forward anytime I can. I look at every person I meet as a new and thrilling experience with which I'm gifted. Every new city or country or continent that I visit is a beautiful exploration from which I can learn. Every new client or project represents the possibility of meeting new people and having new adventures."

President's Letter January 2013
 Greetings!
Presents have been handed out, joy has been spread, champagne toasted, and it looks like we all survived Saturday, December 15th! Happy New Year everyone, I have a feeling it's going to be a great one.
Please remember January 15th is the start of TSE in Chicago, and for some local ISES mixing and education you will not want to miss our January 22nd program at the San Francisco Zoo. Sally Webb, CSEP will be speaking to us about international events in our market and how they affect us locally.
It is also my pleasure to welcome Sheila Locatelli-Wallace, BS, CAE of BTF Enterprises. Shiela has been selected to fill the role of Executive Director for ISES-NCC. Please be sure to introduce yourself at our next program. ISES-NCC's Board of Directors sincerely thanks Kelvin Nanney, CMP and the Meeting Possibilities team for the personal and professional energies directed toward ISES-NCC and the years of faithful service.
The start of January officially means we are half way through our 2012/2013 membership year, and I want to encourage everyone to take advantage of your membership. Attend our next mixer, register for the January event, inquire about being a guest blogger, volunteer to help with an upcoming program, send a referral some one's way, or just reach out to give and even receive some guidance from a fellow member.
I'm looking forward to the second half of our year. Let's all keep building bridges together and enjoy everything 2013 has to offer!
Sincerely,
Patrick McMichael

Meeting Recap
The last ISES-NCC event for 2012 was held on November 13 at the newest San Francisco venue - the Observation Post at the Presidio. It was a beautiful day, which amplified the great views of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco Bay that this venue has to offer.
As always, networking led off the meeting, where guests got to enjoy refreshing beverages, including a special mimosa provided by Best Beverage Catering, and also got to enjoy the fun Photo booth experience, provided by Denon & Doyle, who also provided all the A/V for event's speakers.
The America's Cup was the topic of discussion, which proved to be extremely informative, thanks to the well informed panel. The discussion started off with Tom Ehman, Vice Commodore of the Golden Gate Yacht Club and Managing Director of the America's Cup Committee and Executive Director of America's Cup Properties. He led off the discussion by giving attendees the background and lowdown on what the America's Cup is, why it's so important, and why it is such a big deal that San Francisco gets to host these prestigious events. From there, Leslie Milloy, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, informed attendees exactly how the events surrounding the America's Cup would impact our lives and also how we as business professionals can get involved in these events. The panel was moderated by Sara Hunt, CSEP and Senior Event Director at AT&T Park. Sara is also the Project Manager for all Ticketed Spectator Experiences for the 34th America's Cup.
While the panel spoke, a delicious lunch was served by Barbara Llewellyn Catering and Event Planning, which got rave reviews from guests. Classic Party Rentals generously provided all of the perfectly designed event rentals, which were complemented by the gorgeous floral arrangements created by Soulflower Floral Design and the perfectly inspired America's Cup centerpieces created by Well Rehearsed. The entire event was exquisitely documented by new ISES member JK Lifestories.
The next ISES-NCC meeting will be held at the San Francisco Zoo on January 22, 2013, where we will learn what to do (and what not to do) when we're working on events for international clients. We hope to see you there! |
