Nov. 9, 2015

Three new articles for you this week - a product review, a tutorial and a screed.

I am stepping up to 4K video this week - with an in-depth look at 4K video on the brand-new iPhone 6s. This week's webinar will examine how to shoot, capture, transcode, edit and output 4K images. Registration is free -  details are below.

We haven't announced this yet, but next week's webinar will look at options for archiving our projects - both hardware and software. I'll have a variety of demo hardware units, along with software, so we can discuss what works, what doesn't and which options make the most sense for you. Registration opens soon.

Membership Exclusive. Last week's webinar - Ask Larry Anything - is now exclusively available only to members of our Video Training Library. This is the first of several "Members Only" webinars we'll be offering between now and the end of the year. If you haven't join yet, now would be a great time.  More details below.

Enjoy your week - chat again next Monday.

Reader Question

Last week, a reader asked how to embed audio in a Motion template that is to be used with Final Cut Pro X

Great question. So, this week, I got ready to write an article detailing the process -- only to discover that you can't embed audio in any Motion template destined for use in FCP X.

Sigh. It would have been a great article - it only it worked. But it doesn't.
Keep Your Video Formats Current

Trevor was having problems with Final Cut Pro X and Compressor. Come to find out, he had not updated his video codecs recently, though he had updated the rest of his software.

If you are getting black screens, an inability to load or display a movie, or other weird problems, make sure your codecs are current.

This week was about production - both high-end and low. Mike and I talked with Evan Williams and Ryan Neil Postas and Michael Kammes.

This Week: iPhone 4K Video
The iPhone 6s now shoots 4K video!
On a phone...!

But what are the implications of shooting, capturing and editing 4K?

In this session, I'll show how to shoot 4K video, how to transfer it to your computer, whether and how to transcode it, what the storage implications are, and how to edit it inside Final Cut Pro X. Cool stuff!

Wednesday webinars are always free, but limited to only 200 attendees.
