Cool Effects
in Motion 5

Larry Jordan We are moving into our new audio studio this week, and I've got an article that describes the gear we are using with it.  Plus, I have two new product reviews: one on hardware and the other on software.

It was fun taking a few days off to go back to Wisconsin to visit friends and family during the Thanksgiving holiday here in the States. But it is equally good to be back at work. As you'll see from my article on our new audio studio, we've been working hard to bring a whole new level of audio quality and capability to our shows and training.  I'll have more on what we are doing as December progresses.

Our Black Friday savings end at midnight tonight - so grab yourself some great training and save money at the same time.

My new 5K iMac is bouncing around in the back of a UPS truck somewhere on the West Coast. As soon as it arrives, I'll share my reactions with you.  In the meantime, we have lots of other stuff to talk about.

Caution or warning bullet In the U.S., Black Friday is the Friday after Thanksgiving and marks the start of the holiday shopping season. Last week, the party started and today is the last day of our special deals.

From now till midnight, tonight, every item in our store is 25% off! Just enter BLACKFRIDAY as the Coupon Code during checkout. There's no limit to the number of items you can buy. (Sorry, this offer does not apply to subscriptions.)

If you haven't purchased any of our training, this is the perfect time to give it a try. If you have, well, ah, consider giving our training as a gift to ALL your friends....

To help you see all the choices available, we've organized all our webinar courses by subject.

Here's the link.

Generic newsletter bullet Wondering which of my articles are the most popular? Go here and check out the "Most Popular Articles in Last 7 Days." It's about half-way down the page in the right-hand column.

See what other people are reading. The list updates every six hours.

Our weekly webinars resume this week with a look at cool effects you can do in Motion 5. That's the good news. The bad news is that with the holiday last week, we didn't update our webinar website.

This will be a fun session. I want to show you how to work with drop zones, audio, and parameters to create unusual effects very simply.

I'll also show you how to integrate Motion with Final Cut Pro X without getting all bogged down with rigging, widgets and publishing parameters.

Anyone can attend a live webinar for free. All you have to do is register. So, here's the deal - give us a few hours to get the webinar page updated, then visit this link and sign up:

You'll have a fun time learning cool new tricks and I'd love to see you there. Remember, all live webinars are free!

Buzz newsletter bullet Last week's Buzz was pretty amazing - we had some great guests. We began with a rare interview with Avid, talking with David Colantuoni about the latest version of ProTools and their new focus on Avid Everywhere.

Next, the inimitable Ned Soltz returned for Part 2 of his look at cameras and production gear, this time talking about drones, stabilizers and other interesting toys.

Finally, Robert Neivert discussed the implications of personal privacy, net neutrality and politics. I found our conversation both fascinating and troubling.  There is a lot at stake in the discussions surrounding net neutrality - each of us needs to pay attention.

You can listen to Robert's interview here.

Listen to the entire show here.

Thanks to the folks at Take1 Transcriptions, you can read, as well as listen to each show. (You'll find show transcripts on each Buzz show page.)

Generic newsletter bullet I have three new articles this week: two product reviews and a look behind-the-scenes at the gear we are using in the new audio studio we are building for the Digital Production Buzz.

And, as always, I've updated our Top 3 Lists.

Larry's New Audio Studio
Part of our new offices is a new audio studio, which we will use for the Digital Production Buzz, my training and some other exciting programs that we are working on for next year.

In this article, I show you the gear and the workflow we use to produce the Buzz each week.

And, the good news is that you can hear this for yourself when we premiere the new studio this Thursday.

Read the article here.

OWC ThunderBay 4 mini RAID
OWC Logo OWC has released a new version of their extremely popular ThunderBay 4 RAID - the mini.

In this review, I take a closer look at the unit and see how well it works.

If you are looking for fast, rugged and portable - this is worth considering. But, it also seems to have a flaw that you need to know about, as well.

XMiL Keywords
XMiL specializes in making specialized utilities that many video editors find indispensable.

Keywords is their latest release. It has a good premise, but, you need to read this review to decide if it is right for you.

This title contains everything you need to learn Apple's
Final Cut Pro X v.10.1!
This title includes both:

* FCP X: Workflow & Editing

* FCP X: Effects

All in one place, for one great price!

(It is also current for the 10.1.3 release)

Over 200 movies, more than 22 hours of training! Each movie is laser-focused to get you the information you need exactly when you need it. (The average movie length is about seven minutes.)

One title - everything you need - available right now.

Here are the most popular articles, webinars, and audio interviews for the past seven days across all my websites.

These days, everything we do ends up on the web.
