FOUR NEW ARTICLES THIS WEEK!

Generic newsletter bullet I have four new articles this week: one on video compression, two on Adobe Premiere Pro CC, and one covering Final Cut Pro X. Feel free to suggest articles or send in comments for Short Notes. I always enjoy hearing from you!

Plus, as always, I've updated our Top 3 lists.  Enjoy!

ARTICLE: VIDEO COMPRESSION
Secret Video Compression Trick

For whatever reason, I can never make MPEG-4 movies look as good, or compress as small as a QuickTime movie using Apple's Compressor 4.

Unless you know the secret tip...

In this short article, I present a very cool, very simple way to make your MPEG-4 files as small as possible. Weird, but true.

ARTICLE: ADOBE PREMIERE PRO
Relink Missing Media

Media can go missing for a variety of reasons; almost all of which are caused by operator error.

However, when you are facing the "red screen of death," all is not lost. Adobe has provided a way to reconnect your missing media. A process I explain in this step-by-step article.

ARTICLE: FINAL CUT PRO X
Set Playback Performance Preferences

This article began as a conversation in one of my classes.

So, I decided to expand upon it here and explain what you are actually selected when you choose High Quality or Better Performance in Playback Preferences.

In addition to explaining what this preference does, I also explain which is the best option to choose for the project you are editing.

VIDEO: ADOBE PREMIERE PRO
Use Two Computer Monitors

This article began as an emailed question from Eric Merklein about how to use two computer monitors in Adobe Premiere Pro CC.

I discovered this was an easy question to ask, but with a number of different answers.

So, in this article, I explain how to use a second computer monitor as a video monitor, or as an extension of the interface.

NEW TRAINING
Learn Apple Compressor 4

Ultimately, all our projects end up on the web. Which means that if we don't know how to compress our video to make it look good, all our work during production and post is wasted.

In this in-depth video training, Larry Jordan shows you how to make the most of Apple Compressor 4.

Whether you are a new or experienced editor, this training will help you make your media look and sound great!
