Greetings!
WELCOME!

Larry Jordan We are getting ready to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday here in the States. It's my favorite holiday, because it celebrates the family more than any other holiday. (Well, that, and the food is GREAT!)

Still, the holiday is a few days off, which gives me time to write two new articles and this newsletter.

SHORT NOTES

Andreas Kiel, a long-time reader and the driving force behind Spherico, has written a keyword extractor for Final Cut Pro X "which reads FCPXML Event files and extracts the keywords applied to clip regions."

The download is free (though a donation is requested) and you can read more about it here: www.spherico.com/filmtools/keywordExtractor/index.html.

THIS WEEK'S FEATURED BUZZ INTERVIEW

Buzz newsletter bullet This week on The Buzz Kathleen Randazzo and I got into a long discussion on acting and acting coaches. Kathleen teaches at the prestigious Playhouse West acting school in Hollywood.

What I enjoyed were her thoughts on what an actor needs to do to be successful in an audition and, later, in the scene itself. Take a few minutes and listen to what she has to say. I think you'll enjoy it.

Listen to Kathleen Randazzo's interview here.

Listen to the entire show here.

We are now offering complete text transcripts for each Digital Production Buzz episodes, courtesy of Take1.tv.  Read the transcript for this show here.

TWO NEW ARTICLES THIS WEEK!

Generic newsletter bullet I have two new articles this week; and, by the way, feel free to suggest articles or send in comments for Short Notes. I always enjoy hearing from you!

And, as always, I've updated our Top 3 lists.  Enjoy!

ARTICLE: FINAL CUT PRO X
Skimming for Timecode

There are two different ways to display source clip timecode in Final Cut Pro X. (And, I'll bet, one of them you've never heard of.)

In this short article, I explain both methods so you can try them yourself.

ARTICLE: FINAL CUT PRO X
Spell-check and Replace Text

There are two very useful text features in Final Cut Pro X that are almost impossible to find.  (But, ah, I found them...)

One allows you to spell-check text in titles. The other allows you to find and replace text in titles throughout a project.

In this article, I show how both of them work.

NEW TRAINING
Learn Apple Compressor 4

Ultimately, all our projects end up on the web. Which means that if we don't know how to compress our video to make it look good, all our work during production and post is wasted.

In this in-depth video training, Larry Jordan shows you how to make the most of Apple Compressor 4.

Whether you are a new or experienced editor, this training will help you make your media look and sound great!
