NEW ARTICLES -- NEW BUNDLES!
Larry Jordan
I have a mix of Apple and Adobe goodies this week - new articles, new bundles, new webinars - and some cool "Short Notes," as well.

First, if you are interested in making the most of Adobe CS6 - before leaping into the Creative Cloud - I've created a new webinar bundle that can save you a TON of money!  In one package, you'll learn Adobe Story, Adobe Prelude, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition, Adobe Media Encoder, and Adobe Encore - the best way, currently, to create DVDs and Blu-ray Discs. Great training on great software.

Almost eight hours of training - normally priced at $199. Now, you can get all eight for ONLY $49!  Here's the link - take a look at what this package covers. There's a ton of great ideas here for almost nothing.

Again, check out this amazing bundle here.

Last week, we had an All-Adobe issue. This week, I've got lots of FCP X goodies. Keep reading to learn more.

SHORT NOTE - KEYBOARD SHORTCUT

Here are two new FCP X keyboard shortcuts:

Cmd+B:  Cuts either the selected clip or the Primary Storyline clip at the position of the playhead or skimmer.

Shift+Cmd+B: Cuts all clips on all layers, whether selected or not, at the position of the playhead or skimmer.

NEW RELEASE - TIMEQUOTE

James Woodman sent me the following note this week:

"I'm a filmmaker from Cambridge, England -- I wanted to drop you a note about my new iPad app, "TimeQuote."

"In brief, it's a tool that lets you log an interview (or anything else) as you film it so that you can jump straight to the highlights when you start editing. I often work to tight deadlines, and I needed a way to speed up my workflow without spending money on extra resources."

DIGITAL PRODUCTION BUZZ
FEATURED AUDIO INTERVIEW

Each week, I feature a different interview from our podcast: Digital Production Buzz.

This week, I want to highlight Ric Perez-Selsky, Technical Director for PopSugar.tv.

Ric is responsible for feeding hours of live programming every day to the PopSugar website. He uses Tricaster and a small crew to keep the entertainment news pipeline full.

Listen to his interview here.

LAST CALL FOR CONTEST ENTRIES!!

Our contest: Editing Truths for Better Living ends July 28.  So, if you've always wanted to enter, but need an extra push - NOW IS THE TIME!!!

We began this contest last February and we've had hundreds of entries.  My hope is to put all the winners together in an eBook, once the contest is over.

Entering is free and the rules are simple. Everything you need to know to enter - including the email address, is in that link.

Here are our winners for this week:

Marcia Orland
- www.afterglowmedia.com
Client:  "What is that clicking noise?"
Me:  "It's her wooden beads clicking against the lavalier."
Client:  "Oh, can you just move the lav?"

Brian Hudson - youtube.com/sutterhealth
"Can we make this edit" is not the same as "should we make this edit."

Jenny Geldart
Editing is fun until you have to listen to that out-of-tune community orchestra over and over and over ....aaarrrggghhh.

NEW ARTICLES THIS WEEK

There's a variety of good stuff this week, but two articles that I want to especially point out: a tutorial on how to safely move Final Cut Pro X Events and Projects, and instructions on safely deleting FCP X render files; which is something that I didn't realize we needed to do until recently.

There are also three new videos on keyframes inside FCP X, as well as updated Top 3+1 lists.  Enjoy!

ARTICLE: FINAL CUT PRO X
Moving Events and Projects

In this step-by-step article, I show you three safe ways to move Events and Projects.

You can do this using FCP X, the Finder, or a third-party utility. This article covers all three -- bookmark this the next time you get confused about how to move stuff around.

ARTICLE: FINAL CUT PRO X
Why You Need To Delete Render Files

Final Cut Pro X handles render files differently from FCP 7 -- in most cases this is good.

However, there are situations where render files can take up a LOT of hard disk space, without you knowing about it. In this article, I explain how FCP X handles render files, why you may need to delete them and how to do so.

VIDEO: FINAL CUT PRO X
Introduction to Audio Keyframes

Keyframes scare people.  So, in this video tutorial, I explain what keyframes are, why you would use them, and so you a simple way to apply keyframes -- using audio levels.

Along the way, I also show how to change the shape of audio fades and when you should consider changing the shape.

VIDEO: FINAL CUT PRO X
Create a Motion Path with Curves

There are three places to create keyframes in Final Cut Pro X: the Inspector, the Timeline, and the Viewer.

In this video tutorial, I show how to create position keyframes in the Viewer, how to turn them into a motion path, how to add curves, then how to adjust each of the curves to control exactly how your image moves across the frame.

VIDEO: FINAL CUT PRO X
Access Custom Title Animation

Many effects in Final Cut Pro X have movement, but don't support keyframes. Generators are one example, titles are another.

However, there is one title - the Custom title - that is crammed to the gills with animation effects. In this step-by-step tutorial, you'll see how you can change formatting and animation for this very flexible title tool.

VIDEO BUNDLE: ADOBE CS6
Eight Hours of Training Covering Six Software Packages

There is amazing software in Adobe's CS6 release.

The problem is figuring out how it all works. Sure, there's plenty on Premiere and After Effects, but this bundle goes WAY beyond that.

In this training, you'll learn how to use Adobe Story, Adobe Prelude, Color correction and multicam in Premiere Pro, Adobe AuditionAdobe Media Encoder and Adobe Encore.

Normally, all this would set you back almost $200. However, we've put together a special bundle for only $49!

That's about six bucks an hour! If making the most of Premiere is driving your business, you need to get this bundle.
