NEW WEBINAR RELEASE: PRELUDE CC

We are continuing to grow our Adobe Creative Cloud training. Our latest release is Prelude CC.

Prelude is the front-end to Premiere Pro that ingests tapeless media. Premiere is great for tape, but Prelude is optimized for tapeless. Plus, it can be used by other members of the team to review, ingest, log, select and send clips to Premiere Pro CC, Premiere Pro CS6, or Final Cut Pro 7.

COLOR CORRECTION WEBINAR

This week, we continue exploring the new Creative Cloud release from Adobe with an in-depth look at reading video scopes and color correction inside Premiere Pro CC.

This is one of my favorite classes, because once you understand how video scopes work, you'll never be at the mercy of bad video again.

In this one-hour session, learn how to access and read scopes, correct problem video, and give your images the glossy look they deserve.

Subscribers, register here to attend for free.

DIGITAL PRODUCTION BUZZ
FEATURED AUDIO INTERVIEW

Each week, I feature a different interview from our podcast: Digital Production Buzz.

This week, I want to highlight Philip Hodgetts, CEO of Intelligent Assistance. Philip and I had a detailed conversation about the graphics cards in the newly-announced MacPro.

In spite of all the hysteria you read on the web, the actual situation is amazingly good. Take a listen to Philip and learn what's actually going on.

LAST CALL FOR CONTEST ENTRIES!!

Our contest: Editing Truths for Better Living ends July 28.  So, if you've always wanted to enter, but need an extra push - NOW IS THE TIME!!!

We began this contest last January and we've had hundreds of entries.  My hope is to put all the winners together in an eBook, once the contest is over.

Entering is free and the rules are simple. Everything you need to know to enter - including the email address, is in that link.

Here are our winners for this week:

Joe Godfrey
- www.artinstitutes.edu
The attractiveness of the temp music is directly proportional to its unavailability.

Jim Long - www.pegasusvideo.net
"Just" is the most time-consuming word in a client's lexicon.

Jonathan Dowler
At the start of the post schedule, you have too much time and take long lunches. By the deadline, you're overtime and losing your lunch.

Jordan Marshall
The amount of work you will be asked to put into an edit will be inversely proportional to the amount you get paid for doing it.

NEW ARTICLES THIS WEEK

Five new articles this week! Wow.... Two written tutorials and three video tutorials. (One of the articles was suggested by a reader - I'm always grateful for all your comments.)

Then, I got tired of the same three articles in our Top 3 list -- so, I expanded it to the Top 4!

ARTICLE: QUICKTIME 7 PRO
Convert an Image Sequence to a Movie

Charles Love wanted to know the best way to create time-lapse movies.

And, I realized that trusty old QuickTime 7 can make this easy.

This step-by-step tutorial explains what an image sequence is and how to turn a collection of stills into a movie than any video editing software can edit.

ARTICLE: FINAL CUT PRO X
Create a Subclip

This short article was sent in by a reader. I was struck by its simplicity, so I turned it into an article for this newsletter.

If you need to work with subclips, or are wondering what they are, or just want to impress people at parties, you need to read this article.

VIDEO: ADOBE PRELUDE CC
Ingest (Capture) a Clip

Adobe designed Prelude to review, capture, and log tapeless media.

With the Creative Cloud release, Adobe has put some major enhancements into Prelude.

In this video tutorial, you'll get an overview of how to ingest tapeless media using Prelude.

VIDEO: ADOBE PRELUDE CC
The New Hover-Scrub

This short video illustrates the new hover-scrub feature in Prelude that allows you to review clips before you import them into the program.

This also illustrates how to mark an In and an Out on a clip you want to capture (which Prelude calls "ingest.")

VIDEO: ADOBE PRELUDE CC
Send Files To Adobe Premiere Pro CC

One of the real benefits to using Prelude is that one person can handle the ingest, logging, and selection of clips, while another does the actual editing.

This video shows how to send selected clips to Premiere Pro - whether Premiere is running on the same system as Prelude, or located half-way around the country.
