Greetings!
IT'S ALIVE!  THE MAC PRO RETURNS!
Larry Jordan
Apple surprised media professionals everywhere with the Sneak Peek of the Mac Pro last week at the WWDC.  My blog this week takes a closer look at what was announced and what more we can expect.

As I write this, Adobe is getting closer to the release of their new Creative Cloud software, and we are launching our training when Adobe releases their newest software; starting with Adobe Audition CC.

Plus, new winners in our contest, new articles, featured interview, and all kinds of other good stuff in this issue this week.

ANNOUNCING ADOBE AUDITION CC
VIDEO TRAINING

Over the last month, we've been working on creating new training to support the Creative Cloud product release from Adobe.

I'm delighted to announce that our first training is almost ready, covering Adobe Audition CC.  This new training series includes 80 new movies recorded by me specifically for this new version.

This new training will appear first in our Video Subscription Library the same day that Adobe releases the new Creative Cloud products.

In about two weeks, we'll have this packaged up and available for sale in our store as a download. Upgrade pricing for existing store purchases will be announced at the same time.

I am really looking forward to sharing this new training with you. Keep your eyes on the Subscription Library page. When you see the "Adobe CC" button at the top, it's ready.

This is a perfect time to become a subscriber, as we update all our training to support Adobe's latest products.

Click here to become a subscriber. At only $19.99 per month and containing more than 600 movies, I guarantee you'll start learning new techniques almost immediately.

JOIN US FOR AN ADOBE PRELUDE CC
WEBINAR NEXT WEEK WEDNESDAY

Next week, for our Wednesday webinar, we continue our coverage of the new Adobe releases with a detailed roll-out of the new Adobe Prelude CC.  This application simplifies team-based editing by off-loading clip review, logging, and ingest to an editorial assistant.

Adobe has made significant changes to the application that first showed up with the CS 6 release.  Join us next week to learn whether Prelude can make your editing life easier.

Subscribers, register to attend for free.

(By the way, we are working on new Prelude CC training which will be out in July.)

DIGITAL PRODUCTION BUZZ
FEATURED AUDIO INTERVIEW

Each week, I feature a different interview from our podcast: Digital Production Buzz. This week, I want to feature our interview with Sean Mullen, CEO of Rampant Design Tools, from our June 13th show.

Sean is a long-time visual effects artist who's  work has touched such acclaimed Hollywood and television productions as Charmed, Ally McBeal, NCIS, Felicity, Nip/Tuck, Idle Hands, Lake Placid and Any Given Sunday.

In this interview, we discuss the process of creating visual effects.

"EDITING TRUTHS" WEEKLY WINNERS

Here are the latest winners in our "Editing Truths For Better Living" contest. These short aphorisms touch upon so many facets of editing for others.

It often helps to realize that it isn't you.
Read and enjoy...!

Steve Ancsell

"It's only a little change..."

Claude LaVallee
"Nobody slates. Slating isn't cool." (From a double-system shoot without slating or reference sound and with clips randomly out-of-sync.)

Leslie Marsh - lesliemarsh.net/
The amount you use your mouse is inversely proportional to how long you've been an editor.

Jeff Riegel - regalvideo.wix.com/regalvideo
Can you zoom waaay in on that license plate and make it sharp? I know it can be done... I saw it in a Mission Impossible movie.

NEW ARTICLES THIS WEEK

My blog this week looks at the newly announced Mac Pro and suggests some things we might expect from Apple as they get closer to the release date. And, in the midst of editing all our Audition CC training, I discovered some faster ways to do things that I want to share with you this week.

And, as always, I've updated our Top 3 lists.

Thoughts on the New Mac Pro

Apple surprised us at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) by showcasing the new Mac Pro.

In this blog, I offer some thoughts on what Apple is thinking and what we might expect when Apple releases this new system later this year.

ARTICLE: FINAL CUT PRO X
Better Dialog Editing

Sometimes, all it takes to improve an edit is to give it a bit more space.

In this short article, I discuss the importance of pauses between sentences when an edit is involved. Plus, I show a simple method that makes pauses easy to create, without risking losing sync between audio and video.

ARTICLE: FINAL CUT PRO X
A High-Speed Export Technique

This last week I was outputting dozens of movies, getting ready for the launch of our new Adobe Audition video training.

In doing so, I discovered a very fast technique that makes outputting multiple movies from Final Cut Pro X very fast.
