Our webinar last week took a first look at the new Adobe Audition CC, scheduled to ship a bit later this month.

Specifically, I wanted to show how to repair problem audio using some of the new features in this up-coming release. You can see it all by downloading the webinar.

But, I know you are impatient for the good stuff, so I've got three highlight videos as part of this newsletter issue. And, as we get closer to the full CC release, I'll have more on Adobe's latest software.

I spent Saturday wandering around CineGear, an outdoor industry trade show on the Paramount Studios lot, surrounded by the absolute high-end of production gear. From drone camera platforms to trucks carrying four 10,000 watt lights on a huge crane, it was all here.

I'm still marveling at how our industry has changed with the advent of robotics, smaller gear, and some amazing ingenuity.  I remember when it took a bread truck and a crew of ten to set up a simple, single-camera live shot.  I'll write more about this soon, for now, though, I'm still awe-struck... and recovering.

In my recent webinar on plug-ins for Final Cut Pro X, I showcased 16 different plug-ins from a variety of manufacturers.

So, this article is a write-up of how to use an excellent lens flare utility from MotionVFX.

One of the exciting new features in Adobe Audition CC is the ability to remove variable-frequency sounds like sirens, passing traffic, or other warbling weirdness.

In this video tutorial, I show you how this new feature works.

Adobe Audition has always been good at removing power line hum.

But the DeHummer tool can do far more than this.

In this video tutorial, I show you how to use this effect to remove AC hum, as well as optimize it for other line noise, like hum on a telephone line.

From my point of view, this filter should be the lead story, because it can work magic with your audio levels.

But, sadly, not everyone gets exciting about good, clean levels -- though they SHOULD! (Sigh... audio levels are like codecs, no one cares until it is too late....)

In this video tutorial, I show you why I am no longer using the Hard Limiter, but have moved to the Multiband Compressor to smooth audio levels, prevent distortion, and, in general, save humanity. (Even if no one cares.)
