Greetings!
TWO NEW BLOGS ... AND LOTS OF TRAVELING!

Larry Jordan
I have puzzled over how to write this week's blog for almost two months, and finally figured out what to write this weekend. You'll see the article below.

Plus, I have lots of new training, traveling, and trade shows. (I couldn't resist the alliteration!)

HANDS-ON TRAINING FOR FINAL CUT PRO X

I've teamed up with Video Symphony to provide two 2-day sessions of hands-on training for Final Cut Pro X -- a weekend in early February and another weekend in early March.

If you've decided the time has come to really learn Final Cut Pro X properly, join me on Feb. 9-10 for our first in-depth hands-on training class. There's a limit of 12 students because that's all the computers we have in the classroom.

I'm very excited to be teaching these brand-new custom-developed courses. Click here to learn more.

Discover how Final Cut Pro X can get your work done faster than ever before. PLUS, everyone attending gets a free, signed copy of my Final Cut Pro X book.

MEET ME AT BVE IN LONDON IN FEBRUARY

Blackmagic Design logo
Thinking of getting together to talk about great software, later in February I'm traveling to London to preset nine sessions on Apple and Adobe software at BVE 2013.

Three presentations a day, for all three days. For a list of what I'm covering, click here. I've always enjoyed my trips to BVE. Be sure to stop by and say hello.

Thanks to the great people at Blackmagic Design for sponsoring my trip.

FEATURED BUZZ INTERVIEW

Our featured interview this week on the Digital Production Buzz is Ross Shain, Chief Marketing Officer for Imagineer Systems.

Imagineer makes mocha, which just last week won a Scientific and Technical Oscar. We talk with Ross about what mocha is, how it works, and who could use it.

If you've ever wanted to replace something in a clip with something else, and rotoscoping gives you the willies, you need to hear this interview. mocha is amazing.

ITS OFFICIAL -- THE BUZZ IS COVERING NAB

For the sixth year in a row, the Digital Production Buzz is the official podcast of the NAB Show 2013.

We have some VERY cool things planned, that I'll tell you more about as we get closer.

For now, though, get your FREE ticket to the NAB trade show floor by clicking here and use Registration Code: LV4787

A QUICK NOTE ON QUICKTIME

As I was writing my blog on Final Cut Pro X today, I finally figured something out about QuickTime that I want to share with you. QuickTime is both a movie format (.MOV) and an architecture. (I know, its a bit confusing...)

While QuickTime movies are going strong, the QuickTime architecture is outdated. QuickTime-the-Architecture is 32-bit and unable to run on modern operating systems.

The reason I mention this is the both iMovie and FCP 7 were built on the QuickTime architecture. This is why Apple needed to replace FCP 7 with FCP X. FCP X is built on a new media architecture called "AV Foundation," which supports all the latest operating system goodies, include multiple processors and 64-bit RAM addressing. It also supports many media formats that the original QuickTime architecture did not.

This, coincidentally, is also why FCP X is so much faster than iMovie.

NEW ARTICLES THIS WEEK

I have two new blogs this week, two new articles and new video training. My new blogs include: "Is Final Cut Pro X Ready For Professional Use?" and "Will Apple Release a New MacPro?"

I look forward to your comments on both of these.

The video article is a long excerpt from this week's webinar on Reading Scopes in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.  Plus articles on copyright and creating select reels in FCP X.

There's a lot of great stuff here, even if I do say so myself. I've also updated my Top 3 lists, because it fascinates me to see what you are reading, watching, and listening to.

As always, the details are below.

LARRY'S BLOG
Is Final Cut Pro X Ready For Professional Use?

Logo: Larry's BlogThis is the blog I've been working on for a while, and I finally figured out what I wanted to say.

This is the answer to all the questions I get about whether Final Cut Pro X should be taken seriously.

I'm always interested in your comments.

LARRY'S BLOG
Will Apple Release a New MacPro?

Logo: Larry's BlogThis blog was sparked by a comment in the IMUG mailing list about whether Apple was likely to release a new MacPro this year.

The more I thought about this, the more I wanted to say, so I turned my thoughts into a blog.

Let me know what you think.

VIDEO TUTORIAL: ADOBE PREMIERE PRO CS6
How to Read Video Scopes

This video technique is an excerpt from my recent webinar on how to "Read Scopes and Color Correct in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6."

The scopes in Premiere are a bit different than in Final Cut and this video shows you how to display, modify, and use them.

TUTORIAL: FINAL CUT PRO X
How to Find the Clips you Want

In this step-by-step guide, I show you three different techniques to label and find the clips you want.

In the past, we would build a selects reel. In FCP X, we have more options, depending upon the size and complexity of your project.

WHITE PAPER
Keep Yourself Copyright Legal

This is a reprint of an earlier blog, but I've converted it to an article to make this easier to fine.

If you are worried about whether you have the rights to use materials supplied by Apple in Final Cut Pro X, or are trying to deal with copyright issues on YouTube, you need to read this.

Read the article here.
