Greetings!
TONS OF COOL STUFF THIS WEEK!

Larry Jordan
There's just so much going on right now, it's hard to keep it all straight.  I have a lot of goodies for you this week -- articles, blogs, audio interviews, webinars, social media... whew!

MEMBERS-ONLY WEBINAR

I finally posted our webinar "Ask Larry Anything" to our membership service. (All I'm gonna say is that I was distracted by the holidays.) I had a great time answering dozens of questions on all kinds of technical issues and look forward to sharing this.

Members, login to your account and check it out.

If you are deciding whether to become a member, we have almost 550 movies in our collection - and growing every week. Click here to review all our available titles.

I AM RUNNING AMOK WITH SOCIAL MEDIA!

I have new Pinterest boards covering cool books, fonts, websites, all kinds of stuff.  If you haven't visited Pinterest, check out my boards here.

And, thinking of social media, thanks to the folks at #PostChat for a great time last Wednesday on a TwitterView. This was a one-hour conversation that felt like two sprinters having a conversation during a race!  Part speed reading, part speed typing, with a bit of free-form Haiku thrown in for good measure.

Also, if you haven't visited my YouTube channel recently, we've been sprucing the place up. Better descriptions, revised playlists, and new movies - with more coming shortly.

And, before I forget, Rick Zanotti recently interviewed me for eMediaChat, talking about audio, software, technology, and lots of cool stuff. If you haven't seen it, check it out here.

FUNDAMENTALS OF FINAL CUT PRO X

Our latest webinar - Fundamentals of Final Cut Pro X - will be posted later today. It was about half edited today, then life intervened.

If you are new to Final Cut Pro X, this video training will get you started in the right direction. Watch for it in our store and the member site.

AFFORDABLE MEDIA MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE

Last week, I was at Storage Visions 2013, a conference devoted to the technology of storage.  (I was covering it for The Buzz.)

Anyway, at the Conference, I bumped into Sam Bogoch, formerly of Avid, now CEO of Axle Video, with a brand-new, affordable media management system. Take a listen to our interview here.

LARRY IS COMING TO LONDON FOR BVE!

Blackmagic Design logo
The folks at Broadcast Video Expo have invited me to speak at the upcoming BVE 2013 in February. Thanks to the great folks at Blackmagic Design, who are sponsoring my trip, I'll be there.

Nine sessions in three days - new software, cool toys. If you are anywhere near London, make a point to attend. I'll have more details on this as the event gets closer.

THIS WEEK'S WEBINAR - DVD AND BLU-RAY

With the demise of DVD Studio Pro, I've had a lot of questions about how to create DVDs and Blu-ray Discs. This week's webinar provides an overview of the best available software for this process available currently on the Mac: Adobe Encore.

Join me for a overview of how the software works, how to compress your video, and how to build a simple DVD using this tool.

Remember, members always attend free! For everyone else, the price is only $19.99.

I'M ALSO GOING TO MACWORLD

MacWorld is coming to San Francisco later this month. I'll be there for two days, covering the event for the Digital Production Buzz.

If you see me roaming the halls, audio recorder in hand, stop by and say hello. I'd love the chance to chat!

NEW ARTICLES THIS WEEK

I have a new blog, and four new articles this week. Plus, updates to all the Top 3 lists.

As always, the details are below.

LARRY'S BLOG
Editing with the New iMacs

Logo: Larry's BlogIn November, I wrote that I ordered a new 27" iMac. Well, it arrived the last week of December.

I finally got to take it for a spin, and wrote up the results in this blog.

See for yourself if the new iMacs have the speed you need for editing.

TUTORIAL: FINAL CUT PRO X
Send Audio to Adobe Audition for Mixing

Final Cut Pro X continues to improve, but the audio capabilities are still lacking.

In this step-by-step article, I show you how to send your audio files from FCP X to Adobe Audition for mixing, then how to bring them back from Audition to Final Cut Pro X for the final project output.

TUTORIAL: ACTIVITY MONITOR
How to Use this Nifty Monitoring Tool

Whether you use OS 10.4, 10.5, 10.6, 10.7 or 10.8, Activity Monitor is your friend.

I use this on a daily basis to measure hard disk speed, memory usage, or just to see how hard my CPUs are working.

This article shows how to use this really nifty tool for measuring and monitoring your computer system.

Read the article here.

INDUSTRY REPORT: STORAGE
Storage Visions 2013

Everything we do as editors depends upon our storage.

Last week, I attended the Storage Visions 2013 Conference and learned a lot of interesting stuff that I share with you in this article.

From audio interviews about two new technologies you need to know about about, to a collection of hard disk trivia, you'll enjoy this article.
