Greetings!
YAY!  MY LATEST BOOK IS RELEASED!

This morning, Focal Press released my latest book:  Adobe Premiere Pro Power Tips:
Secrets, Shortcuts, and  Techniques.

Thanks to the help of the good folks at Adobe, this is almost 300 pages of the coolest shortcuts for the CS6 release
of Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe
Story, Adobe Prelude, Adobe Audition, and Adobe Media Encoder.

There are some great Premiere Pro books out there. So, rather than cover old ground, I wanted to focus on how to make you more efficient, get your work done faster and better, and show you a whole flock of techniques that you never knew existed.

This book was a labor of love - with help from a great team of people, including Tori Anderholt, Tim Kolb, and Kevin Monahan

Check it out today on Amazon! (And, in case you didn't notice, ah, Christmas is coming...!)

I GOT CARRIED AWAY
Larry Jordan

Thinking of writing, I had three days this week where I didn't have anything booked, so I got caught up on a lot of writing and editing.

I have two major product reviews this week: the Drobo 5D and Sony's Sound Forge Pro Mac.  Both have some exciting features and you'll want to read the reviews.

Plus, I have a new blog, two new articles, an extended video training and a new webinar.

Whew! Remind me to stop taking days off.

FEATURED AUDIO INTERVIEW

Last week's Digital Production Buzz had a set of  fascinating interviews, so I recommend listening to the entire show.

Especially filmmaker Dan Deluca, who is using crowd-funding to raise money for a trailer that he can then use to raise money for his next film. Dan has  interesting thoughts on the good and bad of crowd-funding and why he picked IndieGoGo rather than KickStarter.

Listen to Dan's interview here.

THOUGHTS TO END THE YEAR

Just a reminder, I'm interested in your thoughts on the major events of 2012.

Email me your opinions on what you feel were the most significant products, events, or changes in our industry - or your business - this last year.  I'll incorporate the most interesting responses in my upcoming blog.

ADOBE MULTICAM WEBINARS

Multicam editing is a very hot topic for both Final Cut and Premiere editors.

In this week's webinar, I look at multicam editing in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.

Remember, members can attend live webinars for FREE! Expect a special personal invitation later today.

SNEAK PEEK - MEMBERS-ONLY WEBINAR

Our December 19 webinar is a members-only affair: Ask Larry Anything. An hour of free-wheeling questions and answers on any subject. Think of it as an hour-long tech support session with me.

We'll send the announcement out later this week, which makes this is a great time to become a member.

NEW ARTICLES THIS WEEK

I have all kinds of new stuff this week: blog, product reviews, articles, and video tutorials. Plus, updates to all the Top 3 lists.

Have a great week! The details are below.

PRODUCT REVIEW: DROBO 5D
A Detailed Look at Drobo's Latest Release

Drobo just started shipping their eagerly-anticipated Thunderbolt RAIDS: the Drobo 5D and Drobo Mini.

In this detailed product review, I take a close look at this new storage system and let you know whether it is right for you.

Read the review here.

BLOG: USB 3 vs. THUNDERBOLT
Which Should You Consider for Your System?
Logo: Larry's Blog
As soon as the new iMacs went on sale, I bought a new one.

The new iMacs use both USB 3 and Thunderbolt. Which should we use?

So, I did some homework and came up with this week's blog so I could explain it to you, as well.

VIDEO TUTORIAL: FINAL CUT PRO X
Create an Image Montage Using Multicam

One of the major new multicam features in Final Cut Pro X is the ability to combine audio, video, and stills in the same multicam clip.

In fact, we can combine multiple stills in the same multicam angle. This means we can use multicam to create montages of stills or video in real-time, as we listen to the soundtrack.

In this video tutorial, which is an excerpt from a recent webinar, I show you how this technique works.

This is some very cool stuff!

Watch the video here. (NOTE: This video won't play in Firefox, you'll need to use a different browser.)

FINAL CUT PRO X: MULTICAM COOKBOOK
A Shortcut Guide to Create Multicam Clips

Two weeks ago, I published a "cookbook" to create multicam clips in Final Cut Pro 7.

Well, I got a lot of requests to do the same thing for Final Cut Pro X.  So I did, and here it is.

(And, for you Adobe folks out there, I'll do the same for Premiere after I finish this week's webinar.)

PRODUCT REVIEW
Sony Sound Forge Pro Mac

Sony Creative Software released the Mac version of Sound Forge Pro in early October.

I finally had some time to sit down and work with it and wrote up this review.
