Greetings!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Larry Jordan

"Happy Holiday!", to those of you in the States. And, um, "Happy Week!", to everyone else. This is as good a time as any to take stock and count all the good things that have happened to us this past year.  (Especially because we obsess about the bad things on a daily basis.)

Thinking of good things, we did a bit of reorganization on the website this past week. Many readers have commented that it is hard to find a list of all our training videos, and that the log-in page should be easier to find.

So, we added three new sidebar options:
  • Become a Member
  • Member Login
  • Available videos
Here's an article that explains these in more detail.

Also, whether you are a member or not, click the "Available Videos" button in the sidebar to see all the training we have available. The last time I counted we had more than 510 training videos in our membership library!  (Whew...)

FEATURED INTERVIEW
(FREE!)

Here's another interesting interview from my podcast, DigitalProductionBuzz.com.

Jrme Brunet is an award-winning still photographer, who specializes in concert music shots. Shots that become truly iconic.

As people who specialize in the moving image, it is often valuable to hear from someone in a slightly different environment. His images are amazing and his interview is fun to listen to, as well.

Click here to listen to his ten-minute interview.

THOUGHTS TO END THE YEAR

This year has FLOWN by - at least for me.  I'm collecting my thoughts and reflecting back over the events of this past year for a blog I want to write in mid-December. I'm interested in your thoughts.

Send me your opinion on what you feel was the most significant product, event, or change in our industry - or your business - this last year.  I'll incorporate the most interesting responses in my upcoming blog.

Email your thoughts to me here.

NEW ARTICLES THIS WEEK

Four new articles - and, um, a fixed link - for you this week. Five different articles on five different pieces of software!  Plus, I have  updates to all our Top 3 lists, as well.

Have a great week! All the details are below.

TECHNIQUE: FINAL CUT PRO X
Create & Export Still Frames

With the 10.0.6 release we can now create still frames (freeze frames).

However, Apple changed how we export them with a wide variety of modifications to the Share menu.

In this article, learn how to create still frames, discover the changes to the Share menu, and learn the new way to export still frames.

Read the article here.

TECHNIQUE: FINAL CUT PRO 7
Chroma-key Cookbook

Yeah, I screwed up. NEVER proof-read a newsletter after midnight. I wrote the article last week, but included the wrong link. So, let's try again.

Here's a step-by-step cookbook  on creating a green-screen, or chroma-key, effect in Final Cut Pro 7.

As with my multicam cookbook, this includes additional resources with an illustrated step-by-step guide and a video tutorial.

VIDEO TECHNIQUE: SORENSON SQUEEZE 8.5
Getting Started

This is an excerpt from a recent webinar in video compression.

In this short video tutorial, learn how to get started compressing videos using Sorenson Squeeze

TECHNIQUE: PREMIERE PRO CS6
Create a Green-screen Key

There is a very cool keyer in Premiere Pro CS6 called the Ultra Key.

If you want to create great looking keys simply and quickly, check out this article.

This is a step-by-step tutorial on how to create a green-screen key in the latest version of Premiere.

VIDEO TECHNIQUE: TELESTREAM EPISODE 6.3
Create a Watch Folder

Watch Folders are an automated way to compress media. Which is cool, once you know how to create them.

This video tutorial is an excerpt from a recent webinar on video compression.

In this step-by-step tutorial you'll learn how to create a Watch Folder in Telestream Episode and why this is actually a really good idea.

View the video here.  (Note: This video won't play in FireFox. Please use a different browser.)
