RECOMMENDED INTERVIEW FROM THE BUZZ

With the redesign of the Digital Production Buzz, we can now feature fascinating interviews from past shows.

This week, I want to highlight Terry Curren, founder and president of Alpha Dogs here in Los Angeles. He talks about why he got into the business, how he keeps clients, and what he looks for when hiring staff.  Some great insight on running a post business.

Listen to Terry's interview.

SIGH...

Sorry for being a day late with this newsletter - I was working on my latest book and lost track of the weekend.  All the writing is done, thank goodness!, time for fact-checking, clean-up, and formatting.  As soon as this volume gets released I'll let you know.

NEW ARTICLES THIS WEEK

I have a new blog - Odds 'n Ends - as well as a new article on compression. One of our most popular articles ever was compression video for YouTube in Compressor. This week, we look at the same subject using Adobe Media Encoder CS6.

Details are below.

BLOG: FINAL CUT PRO X
Odds 'n Ends

Here's a collection of totally unrelated tidbits that are good to know, but too short to put into a featured article.

(Including some cool, but unknown, keyboard shortcuts.)

Read the details here.

TECHNIQUE: ADOBE MEDIA ENCODER
Compress Video for YouTube

Our most popular compression article EVER was how to compress video for YouTube using Compressor.

So, in this article, I show you the step-by-step details on how to compress video for YouTube using Adobe Media Encoder CS6.

ARCHIVES: FINAL CUT PRO 7
Two Unknown Menu Items

There are two little-known menu items that are designed to solve problems when the clip settings don't match the sequence settings.

These can bail you out when your images just aren't looking right.

ARCHIVES: COMPRESSOR
Solving Audio Sync Drift

Audio generally drifts out of sync when the sample rate of the clip doesn't match the sample rate of the sequence. Or, when the audio is highly compressed and the editing software can't decode it fast enough.

This article illustrates the problem and shows you how to solve it using Compressor.

ARCHIVES: SOUNDTRACK PRO
Match the Sound Between Two Clips

You know the problem - same talent recorded on two different days with two different mics.

They SHOULD sound the same - but they don't.

In this step-by-step article, I show you how to use a special feature in Soundtrack Pro to match the sound between two audio clips.
