UPDATE: FCP X TROUBLE-SHOOTING
Improving Performance

I just updated this article on trouble-shooting Final Cut Pro X, and improving performance.

This now includes links to Apple Knowledge Base articles and a discussion of graphics cards.  This is a good article to bookmark for the future, as it will continue to evolve.

FCP X: VIDEO TUTORIAL
Check Spelling and Grammar in Titles

FCP X contains the built-in ability to spell-check and grammar- check your text titles.

The only problem is that the menu is pretty well hidden. In this short video tutorial, discover how you can make typos a thing of the past in your titles.

SOLVING AUDIO SYNC DRIFT
Fix Problems with Slowly Drifting Sync

Trying to solve audio slowly drifting out of sync with video is a very frustrating experience.

In this article, I present a number of potential solutions, as well as describe a fast and easy way to convert MP3 audio to AIF, which can solve a wide variety of audio problems.

FCP X: TUTORIAL
Create Chapter Markers

FCP X doesn't create chapter markers. Sigh...

Chapter markers are needed for both DVDs and online QuickTime videos. In this article, I show you a very fast way to export your projects to Compressor so you can manually add chapter markers, along with an automated way to create chapter markers.

FCP X: TUTORIAL
Create Custom Movie Sizes

Final Cut 7 allows you to create custom image sizes for your project. Final Cut Pro X only works with preset sizes.

Are you out of luck?  Nope. In this article I'll show you two different ways to create custom sizes for your movies. One uses Motion 5 and the other uses Compressor.

NEW BOOK!
Editing Truths for Better Living

Your response has been GREAT!  Editors around the world are writing in to say how much fun they are having with this book!

If you ever needed to be nice to a client, regain that creative spark, or simply ponder the weirdness of the creative life, you need this book.

Compiled from our highly successful contest last year which encouraged editors to share their favorite "Truths to Live By," we now have all that wisdom distilled in one place -- this book.
