FCP X: TECHNIQUE
Import and Organize Media

Final Cut Pro X imports files directly from a camera, or from files stored on your hard disk.

This tutorial explains how it works, and how you can use this procedure to automatically add keywords to keep your files organized.

FCP X: TUTORIAL
ADDING KEYWORDS MANUALLY

Keywords are the key (!) to organizing and finding media in FCP X.

The previous article described how to set keywords automatically, This article explains how, and why, to set keywords manually. The good news is that this is both fast and easy.

MATCH AUDIO BETWEEN CLIPS

Here's the problem: you've recorded your talent, but the sound of the audio clips doesn't match. It isn't the levels, its the "sound."

This brief video tutorial shows you how to match the tonal characteristics of two, or more, audio clips so they sound the same.

CLIP SKIMMING

Clip skimming is a new feature in Final Cut Pro X 10.0.3.

Except, I couldn't figure it out.  However, after a quick conversation with Philip Hodgetts, it now makes perfect sense.

If you are creating multi-layer projects, you need to know about this simple technique to make creating effects, or working with layered Photoshop images, a lot easier.

NEW BOOK!
Editing Truths for Better Living

Your response has been GREAT!  Editors around the world are writing in to say how much fun they are having with this book!

If you ever needed to be nice to a client, regain that creative spark, or simply ponder the weirdness of the creative life, you need this book.

Compiled from our highly successful contest last year which encouraged editors to share their favorite "Truths to Live By," we now have all that wisdom distilled in one place -- this book.
