TCS Teachers are LION Strong
Congratulations to TCS 7th and 8th grade Social Studies teacher Mrs. Mary Crimmins, who was presented with an award by Orange County Judge Wilfredo Martinez to recognize her dedication to teaching our students about the court system. "I acknowledge Mrs. Crimmins for her years of working with the Courthouse Law Academy and her sincere desire to give students a truly unique and meaningful hands-on experience with the court," says Judge Martinez.

Middle School Trips
TCS 7th grade students are currently in Ashville, NC, serving families in need and strengthening relationships with one another. This experience is a precursor to their trip to the Dominican Republic next year. Today, our 6th grade students traveled to Pathfinders in Lithia, FL for a team-building excursion. These trips are an integral part of The Christ School mission, helping to establish a foundation for being others-oriented. You can enjoy photos of their excursions on our Facebook page.

In a collaborative science and social studies lesson, our 8th grade students have a special assignment this week - to act like parents! Each student made their own "baby" out of a package of flour, complete with googly-eyes and baby clothes. They must carry their "babies" with them all week and adhere to a set income to provide for their new "family." Throughout the week, the students randomly receive cards from their teachers that may bring in some extra money or may be an extra expense (for example, a pediatrician appointment or a flat tire). This lesson helps them prepare and plan for the future as they are learning to budget, understand paying taxes and become aware of the expenses of life.

5th Grade Overnight Excursion to Tallahassee
Written and photographed by 5th grade students Eleanor and Katherine Hahn
This year the fifth grade class traveled to Tallahassee for a field trip on April 27-28. After a 5 hour bus trip, we arrived at Mission San Luis. Mission San Luis is a replica of the Apalachee Indian and Spanish community during the time of the 17th century. After having a nice lunch break, we headed towards the old Capitol building, which was restored to its 1902 appearance. After completing a scavenger hunt...

First grade students are concluding a unit on Earth Science. They learned about the three classifications of rocks (metamorphic, igneous, and sedimentary) and how each group of rocks are formed. They also explored natural resources, how we use them in our everyday lives, and ways to help reduce, reuse, and recycle to help care for God's amazing world. Mrs. Nicole Boyer, TCS mom and geologist, visited their classroom to discuss the water table in Florida and the importance of not putting harmful things into the ground that may contaminate the water supply. She explained some of the ways we can help conserve water.

Amy Guglielmi, TCS class of 2010 and current Auburn University student, recently received an email from one of her professors complimenting Amy on her presentation skills. Amy reflected on her time as a TCS student saying, "Thank you TCS for having me do presentations!" While fellow Auburn students were stressed about doing their presentations, Amy remembered her presentation experience at TCS and felt confident. Amy's professor writes, "Regarding your presentation, you had a nice, relaxed pace and you appeared very confident. Public speaking must come easy for you!" Amy's mom, Carrie Beth, added...

Kudos to TCS students Ashlyn MacNichol, Hadley Dalton, and Caroline Brett, who performed in The Orlando REP Youth Academy's production of Camp Rock this past weekend. Ashlyn performed as Mitchie and Hadley and Caroline performed in the ensemble. The four-show production concluded with a full house. Our students were excited that several of our TCS families, including alumni families, were in the audience!
