Thank You!

Saturday night's Green & Gold Masquerade Ball was a wonderful celebration of The Christ School community. We are delighted to report that through your generosity, we raised over $100,000 for The Christ School! We are grateful to everyone who helped make this event such a success. Many thanks to all who attended and to our dedicated volunteers. Thank you for your sponsorships, donations to the auction, and for your generous bids, both at the event and from homes across the country! We also thank all of our families who participated in the Mane Event paddle raise for financial assistance. If you were not able to join us at the event, but would like to participate in our paddle raise, you can make a gift online or contact Development Specialist, Angela Harrison, for more information.

Jesus Film at Lake Eola

One of the many advantages of being a downtown school is taking our learning outside of the classroom as well as having the benefit of participating in downtown events. The Christ School community has been invited to attend a showing of the family-friendly version of the "Jesus" film at the Amphitheater at Lake Eola on Friday, April 14 (Good Friday). Showtime is 7:30 pmThe film was created in partnership with Campus Crusade for Christ and has no admission fee. We hope to see you there.
H20 to Go

TCS 7th grade Citizenship students took part in a project called "H2O 2Go." Each student carried two gallon jugs of water on a downtown walk, and distributed flyers about their project to community members they met along the way. This active learning experience reinforced valuable lessons about appreciating the precious resource of water and becoming better stewards of this resource. It also allowed our students to demonstrate their leadership skills as they helped create awareness of the importance of clean, accessible water.
Money Management

Students in 7th grade Personal Finance class have been studying money basics such as saving, creating a budget and the value of philanthropic giving. The students are learning how credit and debt can add stress and problems to everyday life. Recently, they made savings jars as a visual reminder to save their money. Most of the students even set a savings goal for college or to purchase a car!

Telling Tall Tales

Fifth grade students used Tall Tales to explore hyperbole, a literary element that uses exaggeration for characters and events. They discovered that John Henry had arms like tree trunks and Pecos Bill formed Death Valley when he crashed to the ground. Working in small groups, the students read a selected Tall Tale. As they read, they searched for examples of hyperbole to record and share with the class. Their Tall Tales became even more fun as they read the tales aloud with accents to recreate the dialects of the characters.
4th and 5th Grade Collaborative Murals

The collaborative art of our 4th and 5th grade students is currently on display in The Christ School lobby. The 4th grade artwork features embossed metal radial designs. The 5th grade artwork highlights they students' study of Value in art. We invite you to come and enjoy these creative pieces.
