Donate an Auction Item for a Chance to Win
Everyone can help make the Mane Event a big success for The Christ School. One way to participate is to donate an item to our silent auction! Donation forms and a list of suggestions went home in backpacks earlier this week. You can also submit your form online this year. Please know that no item is too small. For every item you donate, your child(ren)'s name will be placed in the drawing for a chance to win a casual day and pizza lunch for their homeroom class! Already donated an item? Don't worry - you're in the drawing, too! THANK YOU for helping us make this our best event yet! Contact Mane Event Chairs, Jenna Dunaway and Jen Deese, with questions.

This year's Celebration Tree Chapel is Thursday, February 16, at 8:15 am. During this special chapel, students will honor their deceased grandparents as well as those grandparents who are living, yet unable to attend Grandparents Day, by placing a decorated paper ornament on the Celebration Tree. Students can pick up their ornaments from their teacher or at The Christ School's first floor reception desk. Students may include a photograph, drawing, or written representation of their grandparent on the ornament. Please have your child write his/her name on the back of their decorated paper ornament and return it to their teacher.

TCS Alumni Earns Eagle Scout Ranking
The Christ School congratulates Nelson Garris, TCS class of 2015, who earned the rank of Eagle Scout on January 30. Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouting program of the Boy Scouts of America. His scouting project was to build a 180-ft. walkway at Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) that connects the dormitory to the training pen. Quarterly, CCI brings in the recipients of the dogs to their campus for a two-week training as they are paired up with their animal. Prior to the walkway, the recipients...

In Mr. Ross' 7th grade STEM class, the students are learning about the Engineering Design Process: identify the problem, research and brainstorm, build, test, improve, and present a solution. The problem in this project is to provide a means for a robotic Sphero to cross a 16-inch gap between two objects given limited materials. The students researched and brainstormed on the possible designs they could use to solve the problem and are now actualizing their potential solution through the construction of various types of bridges.

TCS 7th and 8th grade students recently had the opportunity to demonstrate each aspect of The Christ School's "Portrait of a Graduate." Students were "confident and articulate in communication" as they presented speeches in Social Studies. The presentations demonstrated that the students are preparing to "be life-long learners" and to "perform with distinction at the next level." Topics included: comparing the European Union's food labeling laws to the United States' laws, convincing Congress why lobbying should be prohibited and explaining the future of robotics. Perhaps one of the best parts of the experience was that the students "glorified God" and were "others oriented" as they support their classmates while providing valuable critical feedback.
