Prospective Parent Open House - Tell Your Friends!
We are excited to introduce The Christ School to new families at our Prospective Parent Open House on Wednesday, February 8, at 9:00 am!  Help us engage new families by inviting your friends and colleagues to come and explore The Christ School. Our Open House guests will learn about TCS, tour the school and visit classrooms. Please contact Joanne Fleming to RSVP.
Reminder - Bring Your Soup Donations This Friday!

The Christ School Student Ambassadors are honored to host the Christian Service Center's Souper Bowl Service Project this Friday, February 3. Each TCS student is asked to bring one (or more) can(s) of soup, vegetables, etc. to chapel on Friday, February 3. The Student Ambassadors ask for your help and generosity as we work together to feed those less fortunate. Remember - BOGO - Buy one, Give one! Thank you very much!
The Ease of Continuous Enrollment

Sit back, relax; you don't have to do anything. The Christ School Enrollment Anniversary is Wednesday, February 15. Your child(ren) will automatically be re-enrolled for the 2017-2018 school year on that date. If you do not plan for your child(ren) to attend The Christ School in 2017-2018, parents must notify the school in writing (not via phone) on or before Wednesday, February 15, 2017. Did you hear the newsTCS families are no longer required to pay the annual tuition deposit of $650 per child; another benefit of the continuous enrollment contract! For questions, contact Joanne Fleming, Director of Admission.
Lower School Service Club February 8

This month, the Lower School Service Club will be serving Bags of Hope Central Florida. Bags of Hope is dedicated to giving hope to the homeless and severely impoverished children of our community. Our students will be making valentines and creating snack packs for the children in the Bags of Hope program. Please sign up to bring items  to help us fill 100 snack packs, even if you are unable to join us. Please plan to pick up your child and meet us in the Shine room on the 3rd floor of the Clayton Life Center after school on Wednesday, February 8. Our project will last one hour (3:30 - 4:30 pm). REACH students signed up for Service Club will serve with a REACH team member. Contact Angela V. Harrison with questions.
Coffee with the Head of School - Student Support at TCS

All TCS parents are invited to Coffee with the Head of School on Tuesday, February 14, at 8:15 am in the Rotunda Room in Clayton Life Center. This month, Dr. Powell will discuss Student Support at TCS. Find out about the wonderful offerings available to our students and their families, and hear about how our structure for student support has a positive impact on every classroom. Please contact Theresa Opsahl with any questions.
Calling All Student Artists!

The Mane Event Team needs you! Last week, our middle school students received flyers inviting them to participate in our Mane Event Cover Contest. All submissions are due to the front office by February 10. Student art should be based on the theme "Green & Gold Masquerade Ball." The winning design will be the cover of our Mane Event program. Lower school students - we need you, too! Watch for a flyer coming home next week with details about our lower school poster contest. The winning poster will be displayed at the Mane Event on March 11! Let's get creative, Lions! Contact Mane Event Chairs, Jenna Dunaway and Jen Deese, with questions.
Grandparents Day is February 17

Grandparents Day is February 17! Our grandparents and grandfriends will enjoy a delightful program by our students, followed by classrooms visits and refreshments. All students should wear white shirts (long sleeved preferred) with black pants and sneakers for the program. Girls may wear black skirts with black tights or full-length black leggings. We are seeking volunteers to help make Grandparents Day special. We are also seeking refreshment donations. Please contact event chair, April Agnew, with questions.  Remember, February 17 is an early dismissal day. Lower School students will be dismissed at 12:20 pm.  Middle School students will be dismissed at 12:35 pm.

Best Seats in the House

Looking for good seats for your child(ren)'s grandparents at the Grandparents Day program? You can purchase reserved seats in the first 10 rows of the Sanctuary for $25. These reserved seats will be assigned on a first come, first served basis and may sell out. All charges will be added to your FACTS account.  Please note: Best Seats in the House are an optional purchase. You do not need a ticket or reserved seating to attend the program. Deadline to purchase seats is February 10
The Bible in Different Languages

Last week, our fourth grade students spent a day at the Wycliffe Bible Discovery Center. The Center features hands on learning centers with activities designed to teach the steps needed to translate the Bible into different languages. The children learned about countries without the Bible and the dangers of going into certain countries to learn the language. Wycliffe's goal is to have the New Testament translated into all languages by the year 2025.
Lessons Come to Life

First grade students visited Sea Life Orlando Aquarium last week to enhance their study of animals. While there, the students worked in pairs to complete a series of sea life challenge questions that helped them explore the characteristics of different sea creatures. Their challenge included a very important question, "What can you do to help take care of our ocean?" This visit allowed the students to bring their animal studies to life!
A Heart for Teaching - and TCS!

The Christ School is delighted to welcome alumna Lindsey Hall, who has been working as a substitute teacher at TCS. Lindsey, TCS class of 2008, recently graduated from Stetson University with a degree in elementary education. She says, "I love being able to come back to this great school and work with the students! My goal is to obtain a full time teaching position for the new school year, preferably in a private school."
