Collaborative Self Portrait Mural

This month, The Christ School Art Program is highlighting the work of our kindergarten classes, who created a Collaborative Self Portrait Mural. To begin their project, the students looked at themselves in a portrait mirror. As a class, the students practiced drawing a self portrait while receiving a guided lesson from TCS art teacher, Mrs. Smith. They learned that a traditional portrait only includes the subject from the shoulders up.The students discussed what shapes work best for...
Teamwork Enhances Learning

TCS fourth grade students are learning about early Florida Indian tribes. They worked together in groups to research different tribes. The students were tasked to prepare a presentation and poster board with information about their assigned tribe. The presentations included information on homes, food, clothing, weapons, traditions, and where their tribe was located in Florida. This lesson was not only an interesting look at history, it furthered the students' research, writing, and collaboration skills.
Atomic Models

Students in Mrs. Kuplen's 8th grade science class have been studying atomsTo help understand the design of an atom, the smallest and most stable unit of matter, the students created simulations, which are helpful to study things that are too small to see. The students used a variety of materials including apples, fishing bobbers, mini football helmets, and even action figures! The students voted for their favorite and most accurate models. Kudos to winners (in place order) Mariannah Mincey, Alejandra Gonzalez - Acosta, Charlie Tews, Jack Michaels, Kendall Hess, and Emma Micciche.
