Higher Learning
Kudos to TCS 7th and 8th grade math teacher TJ Ross, who has been accepted to the Leadership graduate program at Gordon College. The two-year program is designed to prepare teachers to be leaders in a Christian educational setting. Mr. Ross will travel to Massachusetts to attend school on campus in the summer, and take classes online throughout the rest of the school year as he continues to serve as math teacher at TCS. "This is a wonderful opportunity to nurture a seed that has been planted in my heart to build my leadership skills in an educational setting," says Mr. Ross. "It is my desire to one day serve as the leader of a Christian school."

Accomplished Alumni
Our 7th and 8th grade Social Studies students were treated to a presentation by Peter Crimmins, TCS class of 2001. Crimmins is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and serves as a Lt. in the Navy. He spoke with the students about his job and his experiences being stationed in the Middle East. He also shared information on Middle Eastern culture. His presentation prompted many eager questions from our students!

Exploring our World
Third grade students are researching and exploring the history, geography, and unique culture of countries across the globe. The students expanded their learning on a field trip to Epcot, where they explored the countries featured in their World Showcase. They even uncovered some exclusive information about the countries featured there by interviewing some of the employees sponsored by Walt Disney World's International Program. Parents are invited to see the findings of their research at the International Fare on Thursday, May 19, from 2:15 to 3:00 p.m. in rooms 217 and 219, located on the second floor of The Christ School.

Fantastic Floats
Fifth grade students were asked to research one of our 50 states using nonfiction books and the internet. Utilizing their findings, they created floats that depicted characteristics of their state. Required elements included the state's population, capital, and flag, famous historical people from the state, what the state is famous for, and crops grown in the state. These creative floats are currently on display in the rotunda outside of the 5th grade classrooms. To conclude the lesson, each child will present a 5 minute speech on their chosen state.

Amphibian Adventures
TCS 7th grade Life Science students concluded their study of animals with an exploration of the creatures that live a "double life" - amphibians. All amphibians begin their lives in the water and eventually move to land. The students dissected frogs and investigated all of their internal organs, including their tiny lungs.
