Bruttell Roofing, Inc. recently completed the replacement of the asphalt shingle roofs on all 21 apartment buildings and townhouses at Maplewood Apartments in Ypsilanti, MI. The project, which was supervised by dePadua Construction of Birmingham, MI, included the removal of the existing roofing and the installation of Certainteed XT25 3-tab asphalt shingles. This is a large project at 180,000 square feet, and took nearly 3 months to complete. The roofing work is an upgrade to the buildings, as the roofing underlayments and vents are being improved and bathroom exhaust fans are being properly ducted out of the roof using specialty vents.

There were many residents who were accessing the buildings throughout the day, so safety was a top priority. "Safety of apartment complex residents was a top concern for us. We were careful to cordon-off all work areas to ensure no residents could wander into a dangerous situation and we made regular sweeps with a magnet bar to pick up any loose nails which could provide a hazard." -Jason Fox, Bruttell Roofing Project Manager
