STEP UP
TO CURE ALS

The Angel Fund has embarked on a $4 million fundraising campaign to raise funds to bring ALS research from the lab to HUMAN TRIALS.

World renowned ALS researcher Dr. Robert H. Brown, Jr. and the UMass Gene Therapy Center team are already working on this exciting cutting-edge research using gene therapy to silence ALS genes.
Our goal is to bring this cutting-edge research to human trials as quickly as possible.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW THAT:

SILENCING GENES THAT CAUSE NERVE DEGENERATION IN THE BRAIN AND SPINAL CORD MAY NOT ONLY HELP IN THE FIGHT AGAINST ALS, IT CAN POTENTIALLY BENEFIT OTHER DISORDERS, SUCH AS SOME FORMS OF ALZHEIMER'S, PARKINSON'S OR HUNTINGTON'S DISEASE.

Walk of Hope for ALS

Over 1,000 Angel Fund supporters walked with us to raise funds for ALS Research. It was an amazing day!

Even though it was a hot day, it didn't deter walkers from completing the 3.5 miles around Wakefield's Lake Quannapowitt and enjoying the day with plenty of food, the dove release, children's events and a huge ice bucket challenge.

With your help, we raised over $160,000!

We look forward to seeing everyone next year!

Ice Bucket Challenge

It started as an idea generated by two young men - Pete Frates and Pat Quinn. The concept was simple: to drop a bucket of water and ice over your head to create awareness to ALS and the critical need to fund research to find a cure.

As you know, their idea went viral across the world! Our Angel Fund family embraced the challenge and joined in raising funds for The Angel Fund. The postings of the videos were incredible!

We wanted to keep it rolling into September. At the Walk of Hope for ALS, over 500 participants took part in our group Ice Bucket Challenge. This was their opportunity to thank Pete Frates and his family for raising awareness.

Thank you to Home Depot and GW O'Brien Transportation for donating the 500 buckets and water for the challenge.

100 Innings of Baseball

Although weather conditions weren't the best, the annual 100 Innings of Baseball went on as scheduled, with just a short postponement during the first half of the night due to field conditions.

But, being the warriors they are, the players took to the outfield and played throughout the night. When the morning came, they were able to resume play in the infield. And, as always, many of the players were there from the start.

Thank you to Chief Umpire and organizer Walter Bentson, the umpires, players and family members who came out to support The Angel Fund.
