Diggity DudesThe Richmond County YMCA recently announced that Riverside Hospital has agreed to a partnering sponsorship of YMCA Healthy Kids Day to be held Saturday, May 4 at the Warsaw Town Park.

Kicking off the festivities will be the Riverside Color Me Healthy 5K at 9 am.  Not your ordinary 5K, but a fun run, where participants start wearing all white but finish with a combination of purples, greens, blues and reds.  "The Y is so excited about this opportunity, this will truly be a celebration about being active and being healthy," states Clifton Wise, event organizer.  The race is open to all levels, and all ages.  There is even a family rate available.

YMCA HONORS ANNUAL SUPPORT CHAIR

carolThe YMCA recently honored Carol Motley as the 2012 Volunteer of the Year.  Carol served on the branch board as the Annual Support Chair.  With a goal to raise over $72,000 in a small community, Carol was able to surpass the goal and raise $79,000 in 2012.

Although the funds raised came from many methods, 2012 will mostly be remembered for the success at the annual YMCA Auction, one of the first events ever held at the Warsaw Town Park.  The Y Auction, chaired by Carol, alone raised over $24,000.

The dollars raised through the YMCA Strong Communities Campaign gaurantees that no family or child is ever turned away from YMCA programs or services based on the inability to pay.
