| BASKETBALL, TEACHING YOUTH FOR OVER 120 YEARS | | |

Dr. James Naismith, a YMCA instructor, developed the game of basketball as an attempt to settle a rowdy class of students at the Springfield YMCA. The first game was played in December of 1891.
More than 120 years later, the game of basketball is played all over the world, and the YMCA is still one of the largest providers of the youth sports.
Youth ages 3-5, 6-8, 9-11 and 12-15 are encouraged to register for the upcoming youth basketball season. Volunteers are needed as coaches and other positions as well, contact Clifton Wise for more information. |
