Regulations & initiatives

The Government has announced proposals which could see Display Energy Certificates (DECs) for public buildings abolished. From April 2018 rental properties will be required to meet an energy efficiency rating of at least Band "E". The government Green Deal Finance Company reports that the Green Deal has passed the 10,000 plan milestone.

The headline story this month is the release of the BIM4M2 research BIM Adoption by Product Manufacturers Report 2014.

The Construction Skills Network Report by CITB predicts an increase of over 8,000 jobs per year on last year's forecast. In contrast new research from RICSs predicts skills shortages will threaten 27,000 building projects within five years.
