Highlights

The CPA has released its Autumn Forecasts showing that the construction industry will grow 23% by the end of 2018 and contribute £12 billion to the UK economy.

 

The Glenigan Index reports its 17th consecutive monthly rise, with office and retail sectors seeing a 25% year on year increase.

 
Yet the Market/CIPS Construction Purchasing Managers Index shows construction output rising at its slowest rate in five months.

Regulations & initiatives

One year on from its launch a review of the Infrastructure Carbon Review by the Green Construction Board has been published. DECC are reviewing the IUFs of energy efficiency measures available through Green Deal and ECO to ascertain if they are set at the right levels. The NBS have released their 2014 Sustainability report. The report claims that the government lags behind industry in its commitment to sustainability. 

 

Steve Thompson, Chair of BIM4M2 discusses the support and advice available to manufacturers in PBC Today. The latest blog from COLT provides a review of three key elements of BIM from a manufacturers perspective.  Craig Sewell in his blog also looks to dispel the complexity of BIM for Building Manufacturers.

 

The NHBC Foundation has published some guides to help interpret the requirements of Document L 2013. The Lyons report provides a comprehensive plan on how to tackle the underlying causes of the housing crisis  An update on progress with Help to Buy has been published by DCLG.
