Highlights 

Concerns are being raised over a slowing in recovery. Output in Construction May 2014, show output has fallen by 1.1% in May 2014 compared to April 2014. However the latest Economic & Construction Market Review released by Barbour ABI shows that the total value of all new construction contracts awarded in May 2014 increased by 5.3% compared to April 2014, 3.7% lower than in May 2013.

Regulations & initiatives
A new report by the UKGBC calls for home energy efficiency to be made a national infrastructure priority. Closing the Gap, Design & As Built Performance, newly published by Zero Carbon Hub, provides a clear set of recommendations for both government and industry to address.

 

BIM4M2 survey launched! This survey, designed by Competitive Advantage, seeks to gather information from manufacturers on the issues / barriers they are facing in adopting BIM. If you are a manufacturer please take time to compete it.

 

In the Chancellors Annual mansion house speech last month he once again backed the Help to Buy Scheme, saying that it was "working as intended".  At the recent Green Construction Summit Vince Cable stated that the industry needs to reform to enable the rebuilding of a skills base, he stated that currently the industry is too fragmented.
