For those of you who are DIYers but don't have all the tools you need, Toronto's first Tool Library is scheduled to open next month in Parkdale. You'll find that article below, along with a recap of the mayor's radio broadcast in which he pledged to get rid of the dreaded land transfer tax.

Later this month, city writers Edward Keenan and Ivor Tossell are hosting an event at Harbourfront that promises to be an interesting look at Toronto's future.

Toronto's first Tool Library gears up to open in Parkdale

     

Need a power drill, paint roller or a small generator? Try the library - the Tool Library, that is.

When it opens next month in Parkdale, Toronto's first Tool Library will be lending out all the necessities for DIY domination for an annual fee tailored to income. Training on how to use the tools will also be offered.

Ford promises to cut land transfer tax

    

 

 

Mayor Rob Ford says he will move on keeping one of his key election promises in the coming months - cutting Toronto's much-maligned land transfer tax.

 

"We're going to try to get rid of 10% of it coming up in the next few months," he said on his weekly radio show on Newstalk 1010. "We're going to put something on the table so we can start knocking it off bit-by-bit."

Greater Toronto Area REALTORS® reported 4,375 transactions through the TorontoMLS system in January 2013.  This number represented a slight decline compared to 4,432 transactions reported in January 2012.
