With all the development in the city, it's no surprise that developers are now looking to industrial lands to build and there are at least five sites where protests are being raised, including along Dundas W near the Nestle factory.
And can you believe that there are now bidding wars on condo rentals? That's how tight the rental market has gotten. The good news is that, at least in the case below, the apartment went to the most stable tenant, not the highest bidder.

Condos versus factories
The clashing factions in Toronto's condo fights used to be easy to identify: angry residents and ambitious developers. Now, the debate includes factory owners and workers as well. The city is currently undergoing a five-year-plan review, which allows landowners a rare chance to request a change to their property's zoning designation.

Greater Toronto Area REALTORS® reported 6,896 transactions through the TorontoMLS system in October 2012 - a decrease of 7.1 per cent compared to October 2011. There were two more business days in October 2012 versus October 2011. On a per business day basis, transactions were down by 15.6 per cent.*
