A Message from Our President......

Happy Thanksgiving to all! It's that special time of year again and our holiday production of "A Christmas Story, the Musical" is just around the corner!  Bob Williams, together with his talented staff and cast are busily rehearsing this wonderful, entertaining production based on the classic holiday movie. Tickets for the show are selling quickly, so make sure to order yours today. A Christmas Story, the Musical is the perfect ending to a wonderful and very successful year for Quad City Music Guild. Congratulations and thanks to all of you who participated in our 2015 season!
Looking ahead to 2016, our 68th year of Broadway in the Park, we are excited to bring our participants and patrons a fantastic lineup of shows that feature two new productions to Guild audiences and two revivals of previous favorites. We begin the season in the spring with the Quad City premier of 'My Favorite Year', based on the movie of the same title starring Peter O'Toole. For the summer shows we are pleased to offer another Quad City premier of 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' in June, along with Stephen Sondheim's award winning 'Into the Woods' in July, and audience favorite 'Children of Eden' in August.   We are awaiting the possibility of new show releases to fill our 2016 holiday show slot. Stay tuned for more information on that selection in early 2016. Season ticket orders for 2016 are being accepted now. And don't forget, personalized QCMG Gift Certificates are available through our box office. They make perfect holiday gifts!
At this time of the year, we pause to give thanks for all we have to be grateful for. From Quad-City Music Guild, we send a sincere thank you to all who are involved with the organization, whether as a volunteer, cast member, musician, staff member or patron. Quad City Music Guild is what it is because of each one of you and the support and dedication you provide.
Happy Holidays!

Based on the motion picture My Favorite Year, courtesy of Turner Entertainment Co., with story by Dennis Palumbo and screenplay by Norman Steinberg and Dennis Palumbo

The musical story of a young man's coming-of-age during the golden years of live television in 3...2...1...
A classic musical comedy with a heart of gold, My Favorite Year features a tuneful score by the incomparable TONY-winning songwriters Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty and is based on the hit Peter O'Toole film of the same name. The show opened on Broadway in 1993, and Andrea Martin won her first TONY Award for her hilarious turn in the original production.

It's 1954, and Benjy Stone, writers' assistant on TV's King Kaiser Comedy Cavalcade, is assigned the daunting task of baby-sitting veteran Hollywood swashbuckler Alan Swann. The reckless Swann is in town doing a live guest appearance on the show, and his antics and alcoholism nearly get Benjy fired. But when Benjy's given an unexpected glimpse into Swann's broken heart, he begins to discover a thing or two about life and love.

This show features many opportunities for those of all ages to shine. Alan, Belle, Benji, K C, King, Alice, Rookie, and Morty all have either featured songs or Solos.  The show will have a medium to large chorus of varied ages, from high school to well-seasoned performers.
