This year's amazing Campaign Executive Crew (pictured above) is Melissa Pickel, Kathleen Morton, Jason Durfee Lonaned from WECU, and Lindsey Cerise Loaned from BP Cherry Point Refinery. We started in August training our Campaign Executives and meeting with our Campaign Coordinators and our top supportive companies. Then we moved into September with an amazing Kick-Off Luncheon on September 7. Now our crew is out and about visiting places all over Whatcom County like: Williams Company, BP Cherry Point Refinery, GeoEngineers, US Bank, Ferndale School District, Barkley Company, Anvil Corp, and Opportunity Council just to name a few! Keep an eye on our Facebook to see where we are each week. Let's make this the most successful Campaign ever! Check out photos of our sold out Kick-Off Luncheon

What is the link between toxic stress during childhood and physical health during adulthood? Find out by joining us to view this incredible film that explores the science of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and connects the dots to what it can mean for adults. We are excited to partner with the Pickford Film Center to bring this film to Bellingham. We will host a short panel discussion after the film to talk about how this work is being used by schools and United Way funded programs in Whatcom County. Thursday October 13 at 6:30 PM (Join us for a reception before the film at 6:00 PM)

We are so excited to partner with Boeing and Whatcom Early Learning Alliance to bring 8,000 free Kindergarten Readiness Calendars to families in Whatcom County with a pre-school aged child. This calendar offers activities, resources, and fun for families to help them get their child ready for school. Nick's parents were struggling to make ends meet. They lost their jobs and their home, forcing them to live in their car. After having trouble in school, Nick's counselor connected him with the United Way funded Positive Adolescent Program (PAD) at Northwest Youth Services. While living at the PAD Nick was able to see his parents every day while they worked with other United Way funded programs at the Bellingham Food Bank, The Whatcom Family YMCA, and The Opportunity Council to get back on their feet. Thanks to this combined support Nick and his family were able to get an apartment, get their lives back, and Nick started doing much better in school and was put on track to graduate on time. This is just one of the thousands of stories of individuals lifted up thanks to United Way's network of funded programs. Your donations make this possible!
