Passages to India: India Seen By Outsiders July 5-July 27. This provocative complement to our Satyajit Ray retrospective surveys the work of eight European and American filmmakers whose outsiders' visions of India range from meditative documentary to full-on Orientalist artifice.

Mosaic International South Asian Film Festival (MISAFF14) are bringing award-winning titles and celebrities from Canada and around the world. 

 

A project of the Canadian Community Arts Initiative, the MISAFF film festival features the best of new South Asian cinema from around the world especially for our Mississauga and region cinephiles. MISAFF14 will feature something for everyone.

 

MISAFF is a landmark film festival in Canada. In 2012 we showcased the long form version of Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy's Oscar winning film Saving Face. In 2013, we screened Mira Nair masterpiece The Reluctant Fundamentalist to a sold-out audience. We also made waves with the world premiere of the hit Pakistani film Zinda Bhaag (Run For Your Life) which went on to become Pakistan's entry into the Oscars and snagged the Best Picture award at MISAFF.

 

MISAFF HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:

1.MISAFF14 STAR of 2014 will be actor Raymond Ablack.
2.MISAFF CHATS: Featured talk by Indo-Canadian celebrity Vinay Virmani. 
3.100 year anniversary of the Komagata Maru incident will be commemorated with the screening of Ali Kazimi's CONTINUOUS JOURNEY with the director in     attendance.
4.MISAFF is seeking applications for Canadian filmmakers with crowd-funding campaigns to present to our MISAFF14 audience.

Want to learn how to make Spicy Lamb Chops in under 20 minutes?

  

All you need is to buy a jar of all-natural KFI Garlic Chili Sauce (available in any major superstore close to your home)!

 Spicy Lamb Chops Recipe! 

 

1. In a large mixing bowl, mix together minced ginger, KFI Garlic Chili Sauce, garammasala, cumin seeds and salt pepper. 


2. Place the lamb chops in the mixing bowl and make sure they are thoroughly coated.

 
3. Heat the water and boil the lamb chops for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the water evaporates.

Dream Girl Hema Malini performed as Durga in a ballet in Mississauga
 
Ajay Modi, CEO, Ajay Modi Entertainment, has arranged another mythological spectacular extravaganza, with the first ever live performance in Canada, by Danseuse Hema Malini dream girl and super star of Bollywood, in the avatar of Goddess Durga, on Friday, July 4, 2014. 

 

It was a hugely successful and very well organized show, and Danseuse Hema Malini was at her best - doing classical dance. Hema Malini looked really very gracious and witnessing her magical dance moves audience could not help but tremendously applauded the evergreen beauty from South.

 

The grace, elegance, and creativity which she depicted on stage are worthy of all the accolades.

 

She is an institution in herself and Ajay Modi should be appreciated and congratulated for bringing her to Canada, providing a platform to her, creating an opportunity for the audience to experience this eye-catching and mesmerizing performance.
