Greetings!
From April 5th through May 31st, Small World Music Society proudly presents its 12th Annual Asian Music Series - ten events embracing the scope of music, new and old, from across the Asian cultural landscape. The series celebrates Asian and South Asian Heritage Month, bringing together emerging local artists with legendary figures and communities from across the GTA to celebrate their musical heritage. The series is generously supported by TD Bank.
From world-renowned masters such as Zakir Hussain, who brings his Masters of Percussion to the stage of Roy Thomson Hall, to Gods Robots, who will fill the dance floor at the El Mocambo, the scope of the program is wide and wonderful. From the Small World Music Centre hosting the Chinese Canadian sounds of Spire to the grand expanse of the Sony Centre where the legendary Shafqat Amanat Ali will end the series in front of a legion of fans.

A legend in his native India, Zakir Hussain is the world's pre-eminent tabla virtuoso. For his Masters of Percussion, Hussain has invited a coterie of gifted musicians to take part in a rhythmic tempest that showcases the best of instruments like the ghatam clay pot, the sarangi and the sitar. V. Selvaganesh of Remember Shakti and drummer Steve Smith, formerly of Journey, are among the thundering lineup.
